After nominations are taken, Zip fans will help name the All-Akron Team of the Decade. These All-Akron teams - male and female - will not be for each sport, rather picking the 10-15 best male and female UA student-athletes over the last 10 years (pending the number of qualified nominees received). zippyrifle32
Zipsrifle, and Zippyrifle32. You're referring to posters on ZNO, no? LOL... I will be the first to admit that I was only a mediocre collegiate shooter. But thanks for the nod.
Zipsrifle
I graduated over 10 years ago so I'm out. Even if I could be nominated, no way I'm qualified to even be on this list.

vmd9
NO WAY LINHART wasn't even one of the greatest zips basketball players of the past decade, let alone zips athletes...
Zip Watcher
Biggest WINNER the Zips have ever had. Played in, and WON the most games in Zips history. Leader .. WINNER .. Great Zip.

The three best D-1 players to wear a UA uniform to date.Go Zips! B) Marcel Boyce, Eric McLaughlin and Anthony Buford - The three best D-1 players to wear a UA uniform to date.I don't think Boyce will get a number in the rafters because he only played 2 seasons. Buford left UA to play his final season as Nick VanExcel's side-kick shooting guard on Cincinnati's Final Four team. Eric McLaughlin was better than Brown (whom I liked), and did it for 4 full seasons instead of 1 1/2.Although this thread is about "aught" Zips, I'm curious what other Zips fans who have attended games from the 80's through today would think of the Linhart/Brown/Wood/Best-Ever statement. Zip Watcher
I've attended from the early 80's to today. And while the 3 you listed are great Zips .. for some of the same reasons you mention, I made that statement with those guys in mind.IMHO, Brown was far and away the best D-1 ballplayer we've had. Wood was the best post player. Linhart the biggest winner.I know that Win! is going to come in here and crap something down his leg that says Andrick was a better player than Wood .. but he's making us all wait. johnnyzip84
While a bit of a sidebar, this top 3 D-1 hoops players is a very good debate. I'm having a really hard time deciding. If J-Wood hadn't been injured, he'd have been #1 IMHO. Even so, I'm placing him on my top 3 just because other teams were forced to double him so often, even after his injury. And his passing skills were superb. Cricket has to be on the list, because of his production and leadership over 4 years as Cap'n mentioned. It doesn't hurt that he played his heart out in Cowlumbus against you know who in his final game. I'll go with Boyce in the final spot, mainly due to his ability to bring the crowd to its feet WHILE making huge contributions towards a championship. His 1985-86 form would hold its own "athletically" even by today's standards.
