The MAC and DIV 1-A/FBS Football were facing the same issues back then as they are now. I stumbled upon this looking for football budget stats. I find it amazing that we continue to argue these points like it is going to matter in the long run. FBS contraction, regional tv coverage, and basketball tourney structure. In my opinion, nothing has really ever changed about the MAC. There could be periods of time where we seem a little more or less competitive on a national scale.
