Guest Guest_Z.I.P.
Isn't that about the strongest signal in Cleveland? I wonder if Akron's media presence in Cleveland hasn't moved ahead of Cleveland State -- excepting Ellen A of course, who is a closet Viqueen. Guest stuff
Much ado about nothing.. WERE is an addon.... not primary.. From Gozips.com: Zips Sports Network Adds WERE 1300-AM As Cleveland Affiliate RadioOne Inc. station to broadcast UA football and men's basketball for next two seasons. May 17, 2004 AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron Department of Athletics named WERE 1300-AM as its new Cleveland home for its radio network through the 2005-06 season, director of athletics Mike Thomas announced Monday. Located in downtown Cleveland, WERE's 5,000-watt AM signal can be heard throughout Cuyahoga, Lorain, Lake and Geauga Counties, making Zips Athletics available to more than 15,000 UA alumni in that region. "WERE-AM provides us a more consistent presence on the Cleveland airwaves," Thomas said. "We are excited to make that station our new home in that market." WERE and FOX Sports/WTOU 1350-AM comprise the Zips Sports Network and will broadcast all football and men's basketball games. Last week, Akron and WTOU announced that the Belden Village-based station will remain the network's flagship through the 2008-09 season. WERE is owned by RadioOne Inc., the nation's seventh-largest broadcasting company and the biggest that primarily targets urban listeners. The company owns and operates 67 stations in 22 urban markets nationwide. "RadioOne is excited about its relationship with The University of Akron," Cleveland general manager David Bevins said. "The new leadership of the school's football and men's basketball programs has generated much enthusiasm and we are glad to be able to provide that to our listeners." All Zips Sports Network programming can be heard around the world via the official web site of Akron athletics www.GoZips.com.
