Game 4 - Akron at Tennessee

I just want to stop by and say that you all played a great game last night. I was there, and like most Vol fans, totally underestimated your team. We did not think you guys would challenge us, but you played superb, and your offense is loads of fun to watch. Give him time, and ole Terry will have you guys turned around in no time. And also, if you went to the game. What did you think of Knoxville, the school, and Neyland? Sorry for all of the construction going on around the stadium tho.

Go Vols

Go Zips

We had a phenomenal time in Knoxville and we couldn't have been treated nicer. I had quite a few fans ask if we were having a good time and they wanted to double check that everyone was treating us well.

I got a nice tour of the school from an alumni. He was beaming with pride showing off his university and rightly so. I enjoyed the tour. I was also impressed with the renovations of neyland. It is a beautiful place and it is enormous.

I plan on coming down again for a Florida, bama or Georgia game in the future, especially since I now have some vol contacts asking us to come back down.

Good luck the rest of the season.

Before Yoda tells Luke, "Do, or do not. There is no try.", he gives him a good piece of advice. "You must unlearn all you have learned."

Winning with many of the same guys who went 1-11 last year, Master Bowden will do. Introduction of a "winning process" based upon trying to win in lieu of a "building process" based upon doing whatever, has Master Bowen implemented.

PM me your PayPal e-mail address, and I'll PayPal you compensation for what I think this advice was worth. :D

Tennessee should be the role model for college football. You couldn't ask for a better game day atmosphere, nicer fans, more gracious stadium personnel, more hospitable restaurant/lodging staffs, along with a great product on the field. If Akron can create 1/10th of that combination - we will fill Infocision every week.

Good luck to the Vols the rest of the season - Beat Georgia!

I can't remember the exact stat they showed during the game...something like the Vols offensive line averaged 319 lbs and the Zips defensive line averaged 269?

Paraphrasing Bowden on the Coach's Show tonight: "Looking out on the field and seeing the disparity in size between the two teams would have been comical, if it weren't us out there."

Tennessee run 46 times for 232 yards averaging over 5 yards a carry.

I heard TB interviewed before the game. He stated the Vols running game was his biggest concern because the Zips were undersized upfront compared to the Vols. He said they would play a lot of 8 man fronts to try to stop them, but obviously they couldn't stay in the 8 man front too much. He stated they would show 8 and drop out of it in multiple occasions. I love the to hear this kind of stuff before the game. I can't remember the exact stat they showed during the game...something like the Vols offensive line averaged 319 lbs and the Zips defensive line averaged 269? Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong. All things considered, I think the defensive line played well, getting into the backfield multiple times and making some key stops on obvious run downs.

My only low point was friday night when I got to Knoxville about 9:30 after driving up from Florida I couldn't find nothing to eat. I drove around for about an hour and the only thing I could find was a subway. I was very surprise to see where our seats where, row 7 on the 10 yard line, you don't find that anywhere else at any big name schools. I don't know what went down with a Akron fan and a Tennessee fan but there was a point where security had to get involve and the Tennessee fan had to be escorted out. One more thing, if you are a food vender at this stadium you can make lots of money, my wife went to get something to eat and all she came back with was a drink and popcorn, said there was nothing out there. Overall I had a good time.

That's why book knowledge alone is no good, you need to know some street knowledge to know you cannot live by gps alone. If you know like I know, gps will put you in a hole so deep you would catch hell trying to get out of it. I drove until my intowishin told me to take my, well I won't say that back to the hotel and I use my gps to find my way back. On my way out Sunday morning I found a shoney's resturant and I made up for all the meals I missed. That was a rough ride back to Florida. :) :) :)

... Bray and his receivers are the heart of the Vol offense. But to say “they don’t run the ball” is just a bit of an overstatement. I still expect them to open the game up a little more conservatively, with the notion that they may think they can overpower the Zips without Bray (or whoever) throwing it 40 or 50 times.

Tyler Bray went undrafted to KC. "A lack of maturity and poor work habits."

I kept reading Pittsburgh articles before the draft that said the Steelers were interested in Bray. Watching the Zips/Vols game, I didn't want him. I could be wrong though. I went to the Cavs/Zips game when Schuab played against Frye and I thought Charlie graded better than Matt that day, so what do I know? :P

Didn't we lose that game like 51-0?? I'd like to see your rubric.

We lost 48-29. I was there. Late 90-yard pick-6 by Frye killed us.

In 2004, the 51-0 beat down I had to watch us take in person almost killed me.

However, the 2004 season gave me one of my all time favorite Zips. Look at the stats in the link above and tell me who the most valuable player on the team was. Hint, he didn't start until the third game and the Zips went 6-3 with him starting. The Zips were on their way to a laughable joke of a season before he was placed in the starting line up. The guy was a winner.
