I saw UAZip0510 started one, but I figured it would be better to separate the men's and women's, so the people that don't want to see the women's updates, they don't have to scroll through the women's posts to see the men's. This will be the topic I use from this point on for scoring updates on the Lady Zips, updated projections, and other MAC lady hoops news.

Well, BeeGee certainly put together a great game the other night in beating a CMU team that looked like it wouldn't lose again until NCAA time. Kudos to the Falcon women who "held" Crystal Bradford to 14 points 14 rebounds in leveling themselves and the Chipps at the top of the MAC standings with one loss each. And congratulations to Falcon Jill Stein. Did anyone else vote for her for President??

Is the tournament format the same as the men's tournament?

Yes, it's the same

Bowling Green came back and beat Buffalo. That's three straight games on the road that Bowling Green didn't "run away" with it like at home. Looks like BG and CMU will be the top 2 seeds. Akron most likely will be the 3 seed.

Akron beat Ohio. Akron blew it open, and let the Bobcats get back in it down in the Convo. Not a bad win though. Home against Miami(OH), and then a small roadtrip to Can't State. Two wins there. The last two regular season games will be the "juggernaut" games (@Buffalo, vs BG).

Lady Zips clinched AT LEAST a 3 seed with last night's victory. CMU is currently losing at home to Ball State, and if they lose that one plus two of Toledo/WMU/EMU, which is unlikely(but is possible), Lady Zips will get the #2 seed. I don't see the Lady Zips winning any tiebreakers to get #1 seed however. Bowling Green need to lose two as well, which is more unlikely. Looks like Lady Zips will be the #3 seed even if the Lady Zips finish with a conference record of 15-3.

I posted something similar over in the men's topic but the women's criteria appears just slightly different in that criteria B is not used for tournament seeding. Don't know why that little subtle difference is there.

So the Zips are locked into the 3rd seed, they can't fall any lower and even if they won out (beating BGSU in the process) and BGSU lost both games, the Zips and Falcons would have the same record and the Falcons would get the two seed by virtue of beating CMU. Even an almost impossible three way tie with CMU and BGSU wouldn't make any difference). Interestingly, should the Chippewas and Falcons win out, their seeding will be decided by a coin flip - meaning the loser of the coin flip will likely have to face the Zips in the semifinal - not an easy task.

1. Between TWO teams:

A. Head-to-head competition

B. Division Record (10 games)^

C. Winning percentage* vs. ranked conference teams (top to

bottom, regardless of division, vs. common opponents regardless

of the number of times played)

D. Coin flip

2. For MULTIPLE (3 or more) team ties:

E. Total won-lost record/winning percentage* of games played

among the tied teams

F. Two (2)-team tie-breaker procedure goes into effect (refer to

A).

NOTE: Once a three-team tie has been reduced to two teams,

the two-team tiebreaker will go into effect.

^ - Only used in determining the Divisional Champion (not tournament

seeding)

* - Winning percentage is used because of situations where teams

do not play each other the same number of times. (Therefore, a

team that is 1-0 (1.000) would win the tiebreaker over a team that

is 1-1 (.500).)

^ - For the purpose of determining the Division champion

* - Winning percentage is used instead of record because of situations where teams do not play each other

the same number of times. Therefore, a team that is 1-0 (1.000) would win the tiebreaker over a team

that is 1-1 (.500).
