at Ohio State

Ohio State lost their first match today. Hopefully, there are a lot of zip fans that will go to Columbus. Ohio State def. Northwestern 2-0 a week ago

The Ohio State men’s soccer team¬ suffered its first loss of the 2014 season Sunday afternoon, falling 1-0 at No. 10 Penn State at Jeffrey Field in University Park, Pa. The Buckeyes (2-1-3, 1-1-0 B1G) held the Nittany Lions (6-0-1, 2-0-0) scoreless for the majority of the contest before Penn State collected the only goal of the match midway through the second half to earn the conference win.

makes me sick to see Ohio State in top 25 with the zips being unranked...

hopefully, Wed. nights match...will change that

+1

I hope we have Zips fans show up in sizable numbers. I know Wil Trapp will be there and hopefully Chad Barson, too.

fixed the 2nd sentence. I hate when I make typos and don't catch them because I'm in such a hurry to post.

Beating the Buckeyes is even sweeter when you have Columbus Crew and former Zips MidFielder Wil Trapp sitting with you and cheering for the Zips!

Chad Barson couldn't make it, but his parents were there as were Wil's and Mrs Stevenson, Stu Parry, Bill Parry, and other former Zips coaches and a good group of AK Rowdies. Awesome evening. Ref was horrible. Jared was chewing him out followed by his assistants. One of the assistants got the YC. Well worth it to tell that MF (not mid-fielder) how great a job he was not doing.

Considering the afore mentioned group, was there any conversation about UA bidding for Browns? I recognize that we already have (at least) one thread for that.

:horse:

Let's not talk about that here. For goodness sake!

Leave this thread to the gloriousness that is beating State Ohio University.

On the hot seat? Yes. 0-2-1 is a terrible start. Four wins are great, but that only guarantees we're not going to lose 15 games.

Unbelievable!!! 4 game win streak, we beat Ohio State and all you can think about is the negative. This is typical Akron fan behavior……I bet if football loses to Pitt you will also be calling for TBs job too (after all he would be 1-3 which is an even worse start ;-)

 Theres a difference.

And don't forget I'm a tortured Zips/Browns/Indians/Cavs fan. Negative is all I know! :D

By the way, in my list, I forgot to mention former Zip Aodhan Quinn was there, too. On the off chance that Aodhan reads this...very, very, very SORRY that I left you out of my original list. It was great being reunited with you, the Barsons, the Trapps, Paula Stevenson, et al. When the AK Rowdies did "I Believe that We Have Won" with the team, Mrs. Trapp said something along the lines of 'Ah, I miss that. It's so good to hear that again.' ;)

It was a GREAT night to be a Zips fan. Beat OSU 3-1. Jake Fenlason blocked a pk (in your face Buckeye Nation :moon: ) that could have made it 3-2 with enough time remaining for a potential tying goal. And, a nice reunion with numerous awesome people. Pleasant 1.5 hour drive home after that.

I guess there is a difference in that Jared inherited a successful team with most everything in place. But, he still deserves time to "settle" into his new position. Being the Head Coach is significantly different from being an assistant. With the homegrown "explosion" in MLS, I think it's also becoming more and more difficult to pick up the national team academy players. Finally, if you look back at out College Cup teams, Blair Gavin, Anthony Ampaipitakwong, Scott Caldwell, Zarek Valentin, and others that I may be forgetting knew each other from the IMG Academy. That was an awesome stroke of luck/recruiting prowess to be able to get so many players who already knew each other and likely had at least some playing time together before coming to Akron.
