Balsy
It is time for the Lady Zips to have game-specific threads. After being on break for exams, the Lady Zips (7-0) get back on the court against Bethune-Cookman (3-6).
mes102
I think this will be an easy win for them. The only concern I have is that this is their first true road game. Also, the fact they've had 10 days off between games. They played in the Denver Thanksgiving Tournament, but both games were nuetral games. The first game there was their lowest scoring performance of the season to this point. I think they'll be okay though in this one.The games that concern me are @ UCF and @ Youngstown State. Ohio Christian and Bethune-Cookman are locked wins. They'll finish no worse than 9-2 into MAC play.Prediction: Lady Zips 78, Bethune-Cookman
Staton14
That YSU game could be a battle of unbeatens if both teams win out till then.
MDZip
That YSU game could be a battle of unbeatens if both teams win out till then.I think that is a truism. YSU still has to go to Pitt so that will be tough but neither team has exactly faced murderers row. The Penguins have faced only two teams that are above .500 (Niagara 4-3 and Bucknell 5-3). The Zips have faced exactly zero. So I'm happy for their start I still think it might be a little bit of a mirage. The most positive sign is that none of these teams has stayed particularly close, but I think expectations here need to be tempered a little. They did lose a heck of a lot from last year. mes102
MDZip,They can only work with what they have in front of them. Coach Kest has mentioned that they are having a hard time getting better opponents to come to Akron since programs are starting to notice the offensive style of play, and know it's not a "shoe-in" win for their program on the road. Why do you think Purdue went to Ball State? Or Michigan State playing at Eastern Michigan? They don't see them as much of a threat.Anyways, wins are wins. With a young group, building wins is a huge confidence booster for them. It solidifies what the coaches are telling them and what they're doing in practice, their habits, work ethic, etc.Do I think this team right now is going undefeated through non-conference? No, they still have to prove me wrong @ UCF. If they are undefeated in non-conference, do I think they can run the table in the MAC? Absolutely not. But can they finish in the top 4 in the MAC, and get anywhere from 20-25 wins this regular season? Absolutely.People are forgetting this team only has one senior. Everyone else will be back NEXT season. I would expect more out of next season than this season with the way the freshmen are playing. And the fact that Sefcik will be back from her injury by then. I believe she will be the 2nd best out of this freshmen class behind McMahan.
