New JUCO commit: TE Johnnie Pope

Recommended Posts

Unless there is a drastic change in philosophy, I am confused about bringing in more TE's.

In 2014, Anthony Ritossa caught 6 passes and Jerome Lewis chipped in with 3 receptions. Not exactly Tony Gonzalez and Shannon Sharpe.

The four TE's on the roster now seems like plenty, but we shall see. . .

I can see him spread wide in the "Trips" formation, blocking for Dr. Z's favorite play - the vaunted Bubble Screen.

He seems like a D1-A TE tweener at 6' 2" 230 lb, 4.8 sec. 40

Undersized for a TE...too small to convert to OL...good size, but slow for a WR.

Hope he's faster than he's listed. Maybe if he could drop to <220 lbs he could be a handful at WR?

I guess time will tell...welcome to Akron, Johnnie.
