Akron is rated #48...I am looking forward to seeing this year's zips team

unrelated......where will Ismail Seremba be playing soccer this fall? I hope he is healthy and does well. The young man has worked hard and deserves some good fortune and good health

Does anyone know what happened with Ezana Kahsay?

He is in California somewhere according to his twitter. He is participating in preseason. But I haven't seen anything that said which school he is playing for. His twitter bio still says UA.

48? SMH. Caleb used to regularly bring in top 5 classes. We're right there with Wright State, Temple and FIU. We used to be with UCLA, Maryland and UNC. :(

I like this years team. I predict a deep run in to the NCAA.

I too like this team. This squad is much better than the media thinks. Zips will win a second round game this post season. I just do not think they have the horse power to be champions.

Well the good news is we are still getting quality players that will more than likely stay more than a year or two. We are 4 years removed from getting gutted by having 7 players drafted in the first 2 rounds of the MLS draft (absolutely incredible)…..we also lost Mattocks, Trapp and Yedlin early. Our style of play and great coaching still remain.

Ismail Seremba is playing for Cal Poly. I hope he is healthy and has a good year for Cal Poly.

Yes, and how did his predecessor do? Where were his recruiting classes ranked? I seem to recall the Zips being ranked #1 sometime during a season in which he coached. I'm sorry, but I can't stand the pessimism. Our players deserve our full, optimistic support. I like this recruiting class and the time that most of this team has had together.

Nothing to do with being pessimistic or not supporting the team - all Zips teams deserve support, but simply an observation of where the Zips currently are. And since you mentioned it, Ken Lolla was a reasonably good recruiter and the closest he ever got was the Elite Eight (still really good but 3 very hard wins short of a title - being ranked #1 and finishing #1 are two very different things). Caleb was a phenomenal recruiter and had great recruiting classes every year and you always felt they had a chance to win a championship (right with the power teams of the sport). This Zips team is still going to be very good, but if they do the same, they probably will have over achieved (and that would be great).
