zips #26.....

and they show the losses in the records for UCLA and Maryland

Maryland stayed at #4....with a win over UCLA and a loss to the Zips

check out who is #24.....I guess their wins over Drexel and Cleveland State impressed the voters (sarcasm, just one more service I offer)

I have to believe that the win over previously unbeaten Maryland would have had even more clout with voters than the Georgetown win, and those two wins back-to-back would have earned more voting support for the Zips than they received in this week's poll. So I'm thinking the votes were in before the Maryland game. If the Zips can make it three big wins in a row by also knocking off St. Louis, they certainly deserve to be ranked in the top 10.

the top drawer poll is done Monday morning....so it was done before the huge win over Maryland. Look at the teams receiving votes. Western Michigan is #29 in their poll. So, we have BGSU in the NSCAA poll and Western Michigan in the top drawer poll. I know that LZip has been upset that other schools have been getting votes to win the MAC. However, I look at it as a positive that some other MAC teams are getting respect on the national level. I would imagine that WMU and BGSU both are using akron's national championship as a recruiting tool (come to our school and you can compete against Akron, which has won a national championship).

Improved teams in the MAC will help the zips in the NCAA tournament as they will have more competitive games in October and early November.

Soccer America's poll came out today and has the Zips at #8.

From not ranked to #8 reflects the true value of the win at Maryland on top of wins at Georgetown and VCU. Not to be too greedy, but imagine where the Zips would have been ranked if they'd also beaten ODU on the road to go 4-0 -- maybe right up there with 4-0 Creighton.

Booyah!!! A long way to go but a great start. Stay positive ZNO. The ODU loss sucked, but look on the bright side……it was an early loss (to a ranked team) and will be forgotten weeks from now. As far as polling goes, it is better to take a loss early in the season vs. late in the season from a ranking standpoint (at least that is the excuse the NCAA uses to put the power conferences in post season when it is convenient ;-)

I LOVE THIS TEAM :rock::rock::rock:

Does anyone know for sure if the coaches voted after the Maryland game? I am guessing the vote was due before the game and the record is just a current record. I could be wrong though. Just typical ranking garbage though.

They do not include that game, although the record listed does. If the Zips beat St Louis on Friday, they'll probably be in the top 10.
