This side is scary good, with several professional prospects throughout the roster.

@fknbuflobo, when I bothered to actually click the link you provided, I found it interesting that Creighton has already penciled themselves into the College Cup December 11th when you look across the scoreboard at the top of the page.

"Why do I think Elmer Bolowich will have something cooked up for Akron. Creighton is a tough, physical bunch that takes away what teams do best. They luv to foul and the ref in this game is going to be a key as to how much physicality is allowed in this marquee matchup. Creighton luvs to push the envelope. With their game against UNC, Creighton just sat in the weeds against UNC game and hurt the heels on the counter. They have a couple of Snipers (Timo Pitter - seems this guy been around for years) that are deadly. They play with an edge. Going to be a interesting chess match."

Lots of teams do this. UCSB, for example, always has the College Cup on their schedule page from the day it first goes up pre-season, and it's still there even though they lost to Clemson: http://ucsbgauchos.com/sports/m-soccer/2015-16/schedule

The Zips used to have it on our schedule, too like UCSB, but we didn't pencil ourselves into it like Creighton shows it.

I know that the Sunday match will be again videovised by Sidearm Sports. The SMU broadcast left a LOT to be desired (though I thought the commentary was better than expected). Many times the play was off-camera or the camera zoomed in too close. And then there was the five+ second video delay. At least you had an audio warning when something important was about to happen! Who exactly IS Sidearm Sports? Is it Akron-based, or do they just use local crew?

Any team that is competitive should be confident enough to pencil in the championship game onto their schedule. Of course Akron should just mark it with permanent marker.

I will say that I hate having Creighton on the way. I'd rather us be playing Wake Forest. Creighton is just one of those schools that has our number. I guess that just means a Zips win will be even sweeter!

I assume this will be in the Saturday Beacon

Marla Ridenour has done a good job of giving this excellent team and their outstanding coach....some great publicity....Hopefully, these articles will help put more people in the seats on Saturday...

We are Akron.......
