Not a surprise to we who know his capabilities...

Jonathan Lewis the surprise hero as NYCFC use RBNY's press against them

...“’Jonathan, just move runs in behind because they make high pressing, they have a high line and you can find the spaces behind them,’” Torrent said postgame, explaining his message to the 21-year-old winger.

Lewis was pivotal in the match’s biggest moment, using the Red Bulls’ own weapon against them. He sprinted at Aaron Long as soon as Tyler Adams played a pass back to the center back, intercepting it and putting it on a platter for Maxi Moralez to hammer home the winner five minutes from full time. ...

Jonathan's steal and assist starts around 2:41 or so in the first video below.

I only watched the last 30 minutes of this match.  JLew absolutely should start for NYC.  He completely changed the match upon entering.

Changes in defense - Contract clear with US defender Kofi Sarkodie and Victor Nilsson leaving club

We have signed an agreement with US Defense Kofi Sarkodie. The 27-year-old from Ohio comes last from the American league where he played 140 matches. The agreement extends over 2019.

"Kofi is a relatively new acquaintance for us. He gives a very professional impression and is a player with leadership skills who have a solid experience after playing high level in the American league. Kofi is a defensively strong and solid player with a good right and left turn, "says Patrick Winqvist, coach of Trelleborg's FF. ...

USLSoccer.com Man of the Match
Adam Najem, Bethlehem Steel FC – Najem scored a fine equalizer and recorded four key passes as Bethlehem looked the more threatening of the teams to take all three points on home turf.

JLew played 35 minutes last night and had an assist

https://www.nycfc.com/post/2018/07/14/five-things-party-city

When the goal came, it was thanks to a heavy contribution from second half substitute Jonathan Lewis, who has helped make the difference in each of our three wins this week.

This time, Jonathan had the presence of mind to take the two extra touches which gave him the time and space to pick out Jesus Medina, after his initial shot had come back off the post.

It was his longest run-out under Torrent, who will really feel like he has an ace up his sleeve with the dynamic young American who is reliably contributing assists and goals in his cameos

unrelated to last night's golazo...this is a good article

https://www.prosoccerusa.com/mls/columbus-crew-sc/home-field-disadvantage/

...Earlier this month, with little fanfare, Crew SC captain Wil Trapp achieved a small but important milestone. He passed former Crew player and Columbus native Danny O’Rourke in minutes played for the franchise. Trapp now has 12,418 minutes, which places him eighth all-time in most minutes played for Columbus and No. 1 among Columbus-area natives, a point of pride for any homegrown player....
