I definitely support offering an outright scholarship to attract a kicker and punter. Not a fan of offering a long snapper a scholarship.

Then you probably don't understand how difficult it is. It is as much of a science as kicking and punting and you can't just take a kid who has not been trained by a specialist and expect him to have the speed and accuracy needed to achieve the operation time necessary for D1 play. . A bad snap can cost you a game every bit as much as a missed kick or a lousy punt.

With 13-15 lineman under scholarship + a few extra walk-ons odds are at least 1 of them were trained. If a preferred walk-on outperforms players we already have then maybe I'd be more content offering.

I'm surprised I haven't seen any official announcement yet, but the new help on defense is revealed in the video that @CDMac posted. Former DC (2002-03) for Lee Owens, Joe Tresey will be coaching the linebackers this season. Joe coached cornerbacks at Kent last year. Not meaning much, but I do remember writing(or saying) something about being impressed with Kent's DBs when they played us last year. Edit: found my comment here..."Kent is ranked third in the MAC in passing defense, I can see why, they played excellent pass coverage last night."

Here is a piece on Joe when he used to be the defensive coordinator at UCLA.

I still expect coach Stroud to be named DC.

I'm not going to look at the replay, but I only recall one safety blitz. The front 4 did a great job without relying on the LB's to put pressure on the QB. This put more people underneath allowing the CB's to cover tighter, and give the S's room to roam. We held a BIG team to under 100 rushing. We gave up lots of passing yds but to a SR projected draft pick. I'm not saying that Chuck would have held us down. It's just "the next men up!" (I'm even encouraged with our OC.)

I thought I saw a positive Milwee comment in one of these threads.  He was public enemy #1 last year.

Last year I was a vocal critic of Milwee. I thought then, and I still think now, that with the talent he had he significantly under-performed and deserved to be replaced to focus on being the QB coach alone. I also said TB was very loyal and would not replace him so I prayed Milwee would find a way to improve. So far this year I believe he is doing just that. Of course better talent helps. I have no complaint about his play calling. I thank you for reminding me that I should also give him credit where it is due for a job well done. Coaching makes a difference. I hope he continues and drives the Zips O to the top of the MAC.

Nicely done, Roo.

Evidently not. Snapping is a big exposure, right now. Going to a snapping coach takes time and money and generally travel.
