Maybe we will wake up & see the o-Line is a weakness & we have no run game, get the TE off the field, he has dropped every pass we have thrown him & I mean everyone & go 5 wide & see if our RB & WR’s can block & run in open field with quick screens,  slants, button hooks to open up the longer passes, something doesn’t work well TRY something new, Morgan State sucked, our Defense flat out won the Northwestern game with 3 defensive TD’s, our offense has been flat out awful

Maverick Wolfley had a 24 yard touchdown on a well designed play to help Akron upset Northwestern. I would like to see more of him.

The loss against Miami was a terrible game and let's pray we never see that version of Kato, again, ever. If half of his passes would have been better, we would have had a chance. WE are going to live and die by Kato, this year.

Buffalo is good this year, but we can match up against them, well. there strengths can be handled by our D if our O plays as they should.

Not sure I agree with you on Kato. I believe Rampart may have the talent to lead an offense and make good decisions. I realize he has not had much time at QB, but I can't go as far as to say it's Kato or nothing. personally I hope Rampart is getting more reps in practice. Kat needs competition to push his game to a higher level. He still needs to grow in accuracy, temperment and leadership.

I'm sorry, but his passes lack more than accuracy.  He has poor mechanics.  Watch him vs. even a mediocre QB like Ragland last week.  We need a QB coach or specialist to work with him on his motion and release number 1....Hell, the ball takes more time from the time he brings his arm back to release than it does to actually get to the receiver....

I do not know much if anything about QB mechanics, but inconsistent accuracy almost always points to a problem with form or mechanics. I wo der if he has ever received much of any instruction apart from his father?

The Zips had Charlie Frye ready to be the QB coach this year and then it didn't happen (wonder why). He's now with Lee Owens at Ashland.

Per gozips.com, "A.J. Milwee is in his seventh season on the Akron staff. Promoted to offensive coordinator in December 2012, he was the second-youngest coordinator (age 30) in the FBS at the time of his promotion. Milwee also mentors the UA quarterbacks."

The Zips also have 137 people on the football staff, so there should be plenty of people to help with QB mechanics.  I wonder whether it isn't being instructed or whether it isn't being absorbed.

Given the limited time coaches are allowed to work with players, it would bot ve enough to fix Kato's issues. That instruction is usually off season, at the player's initiative.

I agree...I am ready to move on from Kato. Rammart has seemed nervous when he played, but he seems to be more systematic in his approach. I would like to have seen more from him, by now.

This is a pivotal game. Lose and MAC Championship hopes are over, as Buffalo will likely come out of the East and will have the tiebreaker over us and a 2 game lead early into conference play. I don't get how we can play so good vs Northwestern and ISU, then lay a giant turd coming off a a bye week vs Miami. The way coach talked, it seems like we are going to give some other guys looks at RB, so its hard to say that won't turn out to be a positive. Van apparently had a good spring/camp, but he looks the same he always has to me, and the stats confirm my thoughts. Hopefully Kato can start throwing like he was a Northwestern.

I think Buffalo is solid, but not like Toledo last year or WMU the year before or anything like that. We can definitely beat them. If not, I'd probably be down with some changes, like trying out Ramart. Though I agree he has looked a little shaky in his limited time this season. He could settle with extended playing time. This season could end up going down the gutter if we get embarrassed Saturday/coach refuses to make a QB switch/Ramart underwhelms if there is one. If so, I'd want Larry to force a change. Not necessarily fire Bowden, (as I'm a believer in the defensive staff, the recruiting is getting better every year, and I like continuity) but force his hand to move on from Milwee. The offense is young, but I think most of us can agree there is quite a bit of talent at the skill positions. We need more from that unit.
