t’s quite obvious there is a racial component to this.  I think Groce should  be relieved  of  Head coaching responsibility  until the entire  issue  is resolved  in court.   At that time a determination can be made on Groce’s future.

LMAO WHAT

I've never seen so much angst over a "player" who never played a minute for the Zips, and another who was 0.001% away from being a walk-on.

Jimmond Ivey is playing some great basketball right now, if anyone'd noticed.:)

Kostelac.  Sounds Russian.  I'm contacting Mueller.

Give me a break.

If the Zips program can survive a woman beater and drug dealer scandal, it will survive this. Richard Jefferson wrote a piece in the Players Tribune the other day that said player scuffles were a pretty common event during his playing days. We just normally don't hear about them. This obviously went well beyond a little pushing and shoving. The kid needs kicked off the team and removed from the university. People will forget about this in 6 months just like they forgot about that Kent State football player who took his gf hostage a couple years back.

A jury acquitted the Kent State player.  Why it's important to not pre-judge these things

The SOB should be sent back to Senegal after he gets out of prison.

Hopefully, it will resolve as a disorderly conduct, and Gueye can move on with the team or some other D1 or D2 team in the U.S.  Or we can fire Groce and cancel the remainder of the season

If that's the stance you wish to take, why would you waste taxpayer dollars before deporting him?

Not obvious to me. Could it be two bangers were going at it and things escalated and one took it way too far?

The conviction is the grounds for deportation.

That is not what has been reported.

Hopefully it will result in an indictment and the idiot goes back where he came from.

This piece of crap just took two centers off the roster.

NO SYMPATHY.

This team has been a sh*tstorm since the departure of KD.

Lost the coach, he takes players with him, the rest of the team transfers out.

New coach brings in new guys, just about all of them leave after one season.

Now a redshirt who got kicked off another team assaults another player.

This team is toast and so is the coach. Totally out of control.

Were you at the game last night?  The fans had a great time.  Exciting ending.  No one was "clutching their pearls" over Mark's departure.  Team played well and chemistry was good.   Good win over a really tall and tough EMU team.  Out of control?  You are just exaggerating and making stuff up at this point.  PCCC is only a 15 minute drive.  Maybe you should start attending their games.  Maybe that program fits your needs

FYI - We beat EMU last night.

First off, where are you reading that Khadim Gueye got kicked off USC? He left voluntarily to get more playing time. Secondly, Groce had to scramble to sign something like 8 scholarships with whatever was left after pretty much all other schools finalized their classes. Naturally some of these guys weren't going to stick. This brings me to my next point. I'm still counting 6 scholarship players, even after K-Lac departure, who were on last years roster. How is 1/2 equate to just about all? Third, you act like Dambrot didn't have stuff happen under his watch. Starting PG got caught selling drugs and another was accused of being a woman beater. This is an isolated incidence.

Actually multiple players were involved in domestic violence incidents (Diggs and Treadwell) and there were numerous other suspensions under KD. Diggs and Harney also despised each other.

Now, now, things were all popsicles, rainbows and a law abiding Mayberry like existence under KD!

Gueye, a Senegal native, was used sparingly over his two-year career. He appeared in 45 games, recording a total of 11 points and 38 rebounds. After logging 13 minutes at Tennessee on Feb. 13, Gueye didn’t play again in 2017-18.

And you guys think he was not asked to leave?

Yes, bad behavior DOES go back a WHILE on Akron basketball!

About 1991 Coach Crawford had a supposed phenom freshman who got involved with another player in one of the first practice sessions of the fall.  Both were sent to the locker room to "cool off".  It didn't work as the other player took a chair to the "phenom", breaking his arm.  Result: No more phenom AND the attacker left the program.

Looking at the positive side...We have additional scholarships available!  :thumb:

If that's what you want to call being kicked off the team, K-Lac was going to in all likelihood get "kicked off" of Akron at the end of this season. He saved Groce the tough discussion.

We already have 3 signings and Ivey is the only senior. The scholarship is already accounted for.

Not to mention the ever-quickly-covered-up accusation of academic fraud.
