It is great to start getting commits this early versus years past with Bowden.  I looked up these two players in 247 database to see what information that I could find out about them.  Bauer is listed as an ILB with no stars, but it looks like he was injured much of his junior year.  The absence of camps this year and visits and workout will for sure hurt his status.  His high lights look good, and he gets to the ball well and is a good tackler.  Regarding Mack, I could not find him in the 247 database.  I went back the last couple of years since he is a JUCO, but his name did not surface.  However, his tape looks really good and I am curious about his JUCO route.  Arth has been recruiting some very good young talent, and let's hope these two young men continue to fit the bill.  Stay safe.  Go Zips.

I could not find Alex Reese in the 247 database.  Per the news, he is 255 lb and not 280.  Looking at MaxPreps, he looks really quick in a limited number of snaps.  Again, I trust in Coach Arth that this is a really good commitment.

Thanks, @bigjim!  I got the 280 figure from his hudl profile and from his twitter profile.

I'm not familiar with "the news?"  Could you link it?

I should have said news herald instead of the news.  I hope the link works.

@bigjim  ^^I remember tossing that idea around while updating last year's recruiting class list as well.  Without looking, IIRC I did include them.  So good call.  I'll add your above mentioned players to this year's list of recruits.

And thanks for linking the article.  According to the article Reese plans on studying nursing. ??

Looking at his HUDL tapes, he looks like the best DL recruit commitment that we have had in years.  I know the tapes only take his best plays, but what was picked out look very very good.  He played against some very big and good schools and he was dominant.  thanks for sharing the HUDL link.

Abdul Jabbaar, DT, 6'2", 260, Southfield A&T HS, Southfield, MI.

Hudl highlights

He's fast.  He looks fast enough to play DE.  But he lists himself as a DT so I will too.

Nice go see us get back to getting commits from guys with offers from other FBS schools. Beat out Kent is this case.

Wow, in the Bowden years, I always wondered who would be playing DL,  then, we would get a transfer or some commit that was unexpected or unknown.  I am so impressed at how Arth is building the DL.  we have some transfers in Cross and Mitchell, Logan Hawkins came from the Bowden era (I believe), we have youngsters in Allen, Sy, Wade, Wilson, and Julius Hawkins.   I am hoping Meeks has a good senior season.  But now, I see two future DL men that appear to be excellent.  Let's welcome Reese and Jabbaar.  They appear to be excellent additions.  The future DL appears to be talented and deep and will help the Zips dominate.  I hope that they can get 1-2 more DL commitments this year and continue to build for the present as well as the future. Keep it up Coach Arth.  I do not know how may victories we will get in 2020 (if any), but you are definitely building up the talent base to a level that I have not seen years.  Too bad that Bowden left the talent level so bare.  Go Zips.

I had Tyson at several HS track meets during his career.  Long Jump and High Jump mainly.  Great leg strength, a little short for High Jump but excelled.  Also, Tyson is younger brother of Martel Durant, who was a 4-time all-MAC high jumper, and played football for the Zips.
