It’s not nearly that bad. I see reason for hope. Never had a whiff of that with iCoach.

Huh??

after the game one player was trying to pick a fight with a couple OU players, and got escorted to Tom by a ref.

Tom wasn't amused.

He wasn't picking a fight.  An OU player knocked the ball out of his hands then gave Gibson a shove - which Gibson didn't take too kindly.

After last week this was a huge improvement. OU is no WMU and it showed. Last week I was depressed; this week there is reason for hope. My biggest concern is Gibson. I questioned his decision making against Western and I saw little improvement tonight. You cannot win with a QB who turns over the ball. Around him the team has gotten better. Love Dollard, love Bubba. The OL showed it can grow and learn. The DL showed flashes of talent. Riley is out of his depth, he can not cover a #1 receiver. The coaches stepped up their game and had the team ready. My compliments to them. Looking ahead Kent looks good and BG can be our first win. Hope so.

That was Barberton's own Keye Thompson.  Soph. LB.  I followed him rather closely his junior & seniors years of high school & was disappointed he didn't stay home to wear the blue & gold.  Off the field he's a nice guy.  He got pretty dirty that last series though.

He's got a little too much Brett Favre in his head... but not in the arm. Lol

But this is true and at this point is extremely important.  He's only a sophomore and the team plays with confidence with him lined up at QB.

I LOVE Dollard.  Man, have we desperately needed a legit RB for a few years now.  So refreshing to see.

My favorite Zip!  Perhaps I'm biased because I'm also a 5-8 white guy? ?

This OL is going to be the reason Arth turns this program around.  I've never heard of 4 freshman starters on the OL.  They're already full grown men and playing so well!

The DL showed flashes of talent.

They stopped the run and forced a few field goals in the red zone.  They forced punts.  Would like to see a little more pressure on the QB, but now I'm getting too demanding...

I agree.  He really cost us last night.  I was thrilled when we signed him - his high school tape was excellent.  I played corner & RB so I, naturally, like to watch and evaluate those positions - and I think I can, IMHO.  I though Riley looked amazing.  But he just gets beat left and right.  Do we not have anyone better on the roster?    Didn't Randy Cochran play more last year than he's playing this year?  He started last year, didn't he?

Loved it.  We played two solid halves.  Only the 2nd time we've done that under Arth.  In hindsight we should have gone for it on 4th down with about 5-minutes left in the game, but at the time punting it away was probably the correct call.

Kent is a buzzsaw! ?

BG can be our first (and only) win. Hope so.  (The MAC East is tough right now.)

I'm thinking the same.  December 5th we could get one in the W column! ?

The Zips kept my interest throughout the game last night. I almost turned it off after the 3rd and 13 sweep call down by 14. Wow.

Dollard's success will start to give Gibson some looks downfield. Any opponent watching the OU tape is going to have to respect the Zips running game (Dollard).

I like the way Dollard gets extra yards after contact. I can't remember the last Zips RB to do that consistently.

If Gibson continues to progress, and cuts the silly mistakes, he could be a good one. I like his potential, and release.

If I watched a game in person, I would focus on Adetutu, he interest me the most on defense right now. Hard to tell from TV coverage.

CBS coverage of the Zips is better than ESPN. Top to bottom.

A testament to how low this team actually fell, we have seen them outscored 82-23 In two games and we are saying how much they have improved.

I agree, though, on the improvement. The lines are young, Zach is a redshirt freshman and the running game already looks better than it has in 8 or 9 of the last ten seasons. This could be a tough year for sure. I think it really stinks that we missed out on the YSU, NMSU, and UMass games. All three would have been quite winnable. That said, for the first time in a long time last night I was able to think this team could be pretty darn good in future seasons once the guys get more experience, especially if some decent recruiting classes are on the horizon as well.

I like Gibson. I think he possesses what it takes for the Zips to win. He does force the issue too much though. Are these freshman/underclass man mistakes that go away with more experience or is this the way he will always be?

I know in general players are not losing their year of eligibility this season but with someone like Gibson playing 4 games last year to redshirt and still be a redshirt freshman this year, does the redshirt drop next year or will he have a third freshman year?

I agree with this. I think Dollard is the most talented player on the team. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in the NFL someday.

Well, that was much more encouraging than last week's abomination.  It's a good point that the fact we're encouraged by a two TD  loss against an average MAC team is a sign of how far the Zips have fallen, but there was improvement over week one.  There also seems to be something there to build upon.

Around the MAC East the first two weeks, BG is definitely the best shot at a W. They are on a historically bad run. Kent St and Buffalo may end up looking more like week 1, but i'll be impressed if we are able to hang in a similar manner as we did against OU. I also think we could have a chance against Miami based on their close win vs Ball St and the shellacking they took last night.

Even though I can't stand this coaching situation

I also have to echo others thoughts.

The Zips kept me tuned in last night.

I saw more fight and what stood out the most to me was Tom Arth still appearing up beat and trying to keep the players motivated after crucial turnovers and missed opportunities.

So compared to Kato you think Dollard has potential.

Do you think Dollard has potential compared to anyone on the offensive line?

My bad im botching names

I was referring to Gibson compared to Kato

Dollard had 165 yards on 22 carries averaging 7.5 yards a carry

He currently leads the MAC in Rushing

Screen-Shot-2020-11-11-at-11-20-09-AM.pn

Screen-Shot-2020-11-11-at-11-22-00-AM.pn

Last season Peter Hayes-Patrick only had 138 yards total on 41 carries and thats because Kato was basically the RB running the ball 109 times while only gaining 116 yards averaging 1.1 yards a carry.

Michiah Burton also 117 yards on 38 carries.

So overall 2 games in, stats wise I like the potential. Last night's game was lost on Turnovers.

The Defense, even though shaky, made some plays giving us a chance.

Bubba Arslanian has been balling out. 5th in the MAC in tackles and had 2 sacks last night.

Dre, it must have killed you to say this but I appreciate that you did. You are a stand up guy. It appears we all have reason to hope and that's a good thing!
