2022 Zips in The Pros

Recommended Posts

Congratulations to Richie Laryea.

Richie has always wanted to play in Europe

Richie turned a 4 year deal to remain with Toronto FC  (deal would have more than tripled his 2021 salary).

Richie has signed a 3.5 year deal to play for Nottingham Forest of EFL.

Richie is following his dream.   Best wishes to one of the zip all time greats.

Kudos to Real Salt Lake and best wishes to Scott Caldwell with his new team.

...“We have long admired Scott for his quality on the field and professional approach to the game,” RSL General Manager Elliot Fall said. When he became a free agent this year, he was a natural target for our club. He brings another excellent option to our midfield, as well as long-term experience in a proven, winning environment.”...

Prior to the 2021 season, Caldwell was the second-ever Homegrown signing to reach the 10,000-minute milestone, a feat he reached in 2017. He was voted New England’s 2015 Team MVP by fans and the 2015 Players’ Player of the Year by his teammates. Should Kofi Sarkodie be on this list? According to his Wiki... Kofi Kwarteng Frempong Sarkodie (born March 22, 1991) is an American soccer player who currently plays for Austin Bold FC in the USL Championship.

Did Chris Lue Young recently sign with someone?  maybe North Carolina in USL league one?   Thanks for putting this list together.   The Akron Soccer SID used to do this but I have not seen the list in awhile..   I think Adam Najem played for Edmonton this year in the Canadian pro league.   Is Danilo Radjen still playing somewhere in Eastern Europe?   Hopefully, Ben Lundt will be able to find a home this year in USL.

It's not gridiron. So, you can't expect much out of season from the SID or the ABJ. Loved the recent ABJ article about the draft where GT basically took the GoZips.com release, added a few words, perhaps a sentence, and slapped his name on it. 🙄

Thanks TennZip and Zip_ME87 for sharing this absolutely amazing S.I. story from Istanbul and across D.A.'s career so far.  I was quite surprised that he left for Turkey from Newcastle.  Knowing the Yedlins' social and political activism, it was rather incredible that DeAndre would take up residence in a nation led by a religio-fascistic cult of an autocratic leader like Erdogun.  If he wanted that, he could have signed with FC Dallas! 😬  So, so happy for the birth of DeAndre's girl Seneca -- no mention of it also being the name of the largest tribe of the Six Nations of the Iriquois Confederacy, and DeAndre being 1/4 Native American.  That's the first info I've seen about his wife -- I wonder if she's Cuban-American or Puertoriquena or what (Rodriguez).  He had his fling with his McGyver girl, now time to settle down and make a family!  Frankly, I'm wondering how long D.A. keeps up the football game, as he has so many other talents -- maybe Becks can help get him a music contract, as his rapping is pro-style! Can't wait to see the new Roselle line.  And, BTW, did you know the Fox primetime show Wayward Pines had a character named after his mom -- Rebecca Yedlin!  😯
