Neither is Gross ...

You are probably right about Gross. As far as our John Groce is concerned he has already turned done offers.

OSUcks 3-point specialist.  Only one year remaining.  42% 3-point shooter.  Won't be surprised if he's in the MACtion next season.  Or even Horizon.  Limited usefulness.  Seems like another Trimble.

I'd take him, we need a shooter & not someone shooting 5% from three.

Broncos have a new coach.  Dwayne Stephens from Michigan State.  Look like all the positions are filled.

Funny how Mr. Pinky and Kowachyk never are mentioned for the higher level jobs

Kovalchuk is just a good regular season coach. Teams aren't looking for coaches that consistently choke come March. He's been a D1 coach for 20 years and still has yet to make the big dance. Statistically you'd think he'd have lucked into a conference tournament win by now.

Ryan Rollins is hiring an agent for the NBA draft. It doesn’t appear he’s leaving the door open to come back to school.

Well with that, the losses Buffalo, OU, and now Toledo are going to have..it appears to be a 2 horse race next year with us and Kent. Can't wait to see how Groce & Co decide to address the 3 open schollies.

Since April 7, 2022 has been officially proclaimed University of Akron Men's Basketball Day by Mayor Horrigan, I have to ask if any good information came out of the Zips Men's Basketball Champions Luncheon.  Looks like on their Facebook page Coach Groce spoke.

Did anyone attend?  My invite must have gotten lost in the mail.

Toledo will be returning 4 starters from the team that won the MAC regular season, including Shumate, so I'd still say they're contenders. That said, I fully expect for them to choke come the MAC tournament. Rockets are going to Rockets

My initial inclination is to enjoy our opponents losing good players but on second thought good players make for a better MAC and the only way out of the one bid abyss is a better MAC..

💯 I don't like it when good players leave. I want to see high level ball at the JAR.

Having said that, after teams figured out how to guard Sears the guy stunk up the gym.

His shooting wasn't great after facing Akron and the trapping defense but his only awful game after Akron was against Rice where he had 8 points and 6 boards.  Otherwise, after Akron he averaged 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.  He had 37/7/3 against Abilene Christian in their last game.

Had this exact conversation with a friend.  A conference ranking in the 20s and losing a LOT of All-MAC talent in Ali, Sears, Hollins, etc.  If coaches don't have success bringing in new faces from the portal, the MAC may be destined for at least a couple years to remain in the bottom 3rd of D1, and that's not good for any of us.

Tyler Cochran to Toledo.  Really?  Really?????   SMH.

Is he a grad student?

Northern Illinois ➡️ Balls ➡️ Toledo

Only took him several years, but he finally went from worst to first in the MAC West.

Oh wait, there aren't divisions anymore in basketball...

Side note: the MAC should hire him post-graduation. This kid clearly loves the conference.

the Muncie guys at Over the Pylon, who are very funny, had this joke that Whitford's claim to fame was a consistent second place in the MAC West.
