Portal Offers

Not going to pin this one as it doesn’t fit the territory requirements, but how about QB Justin Rogers? I believe JoeMo offered him out of high school, so there is probably some type of relationship there. He hasn’t quit lived up to his potential and would fit this offense perfectly. Might be wishful thinking, but who knows? HS film below.

This kid's listed on the roster at UNLV.  Is he in the portal, after time at TCU, Unlv?

Yes, he’s in the portal again. I’m not sure if he would need to sit a year, but I think he may be a grad. transfer as he’s already been in college for 4 years. If so, he’d be immediately eligible and should have 2 more years to play (due to COVID year). He’s listed as a RS Jr.

Didn't know exactly where to put this as Butler CC DT Kyle Thomas is graduating in June so wouldn't be a transfer... but anyhow, we're still looking to bolster the interior of the DL.  6-3, 285.  He's got a laundry list of FCS offers but Louisiana Tech appears to be his only other FBS offer.

One thing is for sure, our staff is not satisfied where we stand with the DL - in particular the interior of the DL. I probably came across a little harsh on my assessment of them before spring ball, but the fact is we didn’t get the production we needed last year. I like where we are headed.

Per 247, I only see another offer from Louisiana Tech.  I did not see any FCS offers so please let me know the FCS offers and source.  Also, trying to figure out if he has 1 or 2 years of eligibility left.  Need some tough DL that have more than 1 year of eligibility to transition to the recruits.

I'm just going by his twitter page.  There he says he has 2 years of eligibility and has received offers from Steven F. Austin, Southern U., Bethune Cookman, Prairie View A&M, Norfolk State, West Florida, UT-Martin, Robert Morris, Incarnate Word, Tennessee Tech, Rhode Island, Missouri State, Virginia Union, Morgan State, Northeastern State, Texas A&M-Commerce, Davenport, UAPB, Delta State, Presbyterian.  Idk, there are some others as well.

Thank you.  I do not Twitter.  However, when I click on your link, a Twitter page comes up for a short period of time before it did not allow me to see the page, and I saw 3 years of eligibility and he got a 3rd FBS offer from Stephen Austin.  However, I think Stephen Austin is returning to FCS level this year, not FBS.   Please advises if read it wrong.  I am always excited to get another big and good DL.  Let's hope we can close the deal.  thanks

I’m on my phone but Oregon freshman QB AJ Abbott just entered the TP. He thanked Coach JoeMo for mentoring him and Zips WR Coach & Passing Game Coordinator David Gilbertson liked the tweet.

Walk On at Oregon. 6'2" 225 lbs. Decent high school career in Texas that included breaking Andrew Luck's HS record for passing yards in a single game.

Looks like he may have had some decent D1 interest, and potentially chose Oregon to be with JoeMo, so we will see how deep that connection is.

Tyler Manoa, grad transfer from UCLA, has been offered as both an offensive and defensive lineman.

I would assume his preferred playing position would be DT given that's where he played his first 4 years. He logged 53 tackles a crossed 26 games and appeared to play a good amount of the snaps his freshman and sophomore year before falling out of favor.

If playing time is what he wants, he shouldn't have much trouble getting it at Akron. It's just a matter of if he's willing to come to the other side of the country and whether he finds Akron appealing enough

Agreed. I’m not sure what he’s looking for, but playing time should be plentiful here. The staff is clearly pushing for more experienced players on both sides of the line with the latest offers that have gone out. Makes me think some of the juniors/redshirt sophomores aren’t progressing at the pace they’d like and a few may transfer out.

It’s odd that Manoa even posted about the offer. I’m the past, the majority of transfer portal players were quiet about their process, which is a stark contrast to their recruitment coming out of high school. Maybe we’ll see more of the transfer portal players be open about their offers this year.

I’ll add him. I slowed my roll on the updates with the portal picking up steam. I realized there will be a ton of connections this year, plus some players checking us out due to SJL’s success. Awesome to have a player up for best WR even when the team only has one win. Shows the kids will get recognized here regardless of the record.
