  1. Past hour
  2. That's got to be about a 4 hour flight from Sac to Ohio/Mich. It will be kinda nuts for them if they have consecutive-week games out here. I wonder if they would stay for the week and find a practice facility or make 4 long flights out and back within the space of a week. Then again it may not be much different than some of the long bus trips in the MAC. They will also have a couple of payday games on the schedule at who knows where. I'm sure they will try to keep those closer to home. As I understand it, they will be incorporated into the MAC schedule already this fall.
  3. Exactly, I don't understand the hate. If we were sending men's/women's basketball, baseball, volleyball, etc. I would understand it more, but we're not. They're paying us a ton of money and are covering the travel costs for each MAC school to fly out there once every 3 years. What's the downside?
  4. Seems like we're off now looking at website.
  5. Today
  6. In 2025, UMass played at Iowa and Mizzou Toledo Played at Washington State CMU played at San Jose St We went to Nebraska Kent went to Texas Tech and Oklahoma EMU @ Texas State 4 teams going there per year isn't a big deal at all imo
  7. If the Pioneer League in the FCS, can make it work with SDSU, Dayton, Davidson, etc, it seems to me that the MAC should be able to make it work. Pioneer Football League Members Butler Davidson Drake Dayton Marist Morehead State Presbyterian San Diego Stetson St. Thomas Valparaiso
  8. We all know California is far, but just seeing it on the map showing all the school locations visually makes it seem even worse.
  9. https://www.sacbee.com/sports/article314720844.html “This announcement represents a transformational moment for Sacramento State Athletics and positions our university for unprecedented growth and visibility while strengthening our ties to the Sacramento region and beyond,” Wood said in the email. “Our Hornets will compete on the national stage, bringing enhanced exposure to our university, our students, and our community.” Adding U. Nebraska-Omaha would go a long way toward bridging the gap 😁 https://www.csus.edu/ - I guess they go by CSUS : Cal State Univ. Sacramento
  10. I think this Miami team can beat a mediocre P4 school if they get a chance in Dayton. Would be an extremely fun watch
  11. Quite frankly, for all the SOS talk with them, this is the best case scenario in terms of at-large and exactly what the "Last 4" games should be. Give teams a chance to prove themselves vs throwing in $$$ P4s.
  12. If Miami makes the tournament as last 4 in that would be a heck of a consolation prize for them. Getting to play a winnable tournament game just ~1 hour away from campus in what would have a home game atmosphere.
  13. For those that might trouble seeing it, Akron is listed as a 11 seed in the lower right quadrant. Miami is also an 11 seed but listed as an at-large. I am good with this scenario. 😁
  14. When I first started following Zips athletics they were one of the best teams in the MAC. Bonzi Wells 🔥🔥
  15. Forget everything bad I've said about Lunardi. This guy knows ball.
  16. And NIUs coach leaves just before they make their transfer.
  17. I remember when Ball State WAS more than a decent MAC program under Majerus, Hunsaker and MCCallum... I believe all 3 won MAC titles.
  18. I think I read on the Toledo forum the MAC is going to a 22-game schedule next year. In fact, it's doubtful Miami's run would have happened if the league were still in divisions. That would guarantee Miami would have played Akron-Kent-Umass-Ohio Buffalo twice each. Then one game each vs. all MAC West teams except two, likely Ball State and Toledo. Credit Miami with weathering a perfect storm.
  19. Yesterday
  20. Zips favored by 13.5 with O/U of 146.5
  21. A few teams have tried enforcing contracts. I know Mensah ended up settling with Duke that way he could transfer to Miami. I'm not sure what kind of compensation Duke ended up receiving. I'm also not sure if we've seen one of these contract disputes make it all the way through the legal system to see what the higher courts decide. There should be some sort of uniformity in these contracts and some governing body to enforce them. Having to fight legal battles everytime a player decides to leave school A to go to school B because school A pays him $50k while school B promises him $100k frankly clogs up the court system and costs taxpayers unnecessary money. We're both paying for the schools additional legal team needed to fight these cases and paying for the judges who have to hear them. The only real winners are lawyers and their billable hours.
  22. Random thought: it seems like schools are having players sign contracts. Generally speaking, most players coming to Akron don’t have opportunities elsewhere. Why wouldn’t we 1) require players to sign multi year contracts, and 2) require players to pay us x percentage of NIL/revenue sharing they receive at new schools they are leaving us for if they break their contract?
  23. March 6th against NIU is the last home game and senior night. https://gozips.com/sports/mens-basketball/schedule
  24. Why is there no mention of senior night? I assume it's the last home game.
  25. Who would pay $100 for an Akron t-shirt? If you want to advertise the value at least mention what something comparable in the team shop or book store would sell for.
  26. This ad seems very random. All for the free shirts, but I simply don’t understand what message the printer girl is trying to get across with this
  27. You may be correct. And Stef's future may (or may not) be playing a forward, attacking position.
