Summers to the portal. That’s what I meant about not knowing who has eligibility anymore with all the rule changes. -

I’ll do my best to keep up with all the conference movement. That said, I’m not going to be linking any names to specific sites since I’ll be pulling information from On3, 247, and whatever pops up on my social media feed. Absolutely. The 2025 tournament has a particularly high PK rate so far - looks like 20% of results (8/40) were decided by PKs. I counted only 5 last year (and only 4 in 2023) and one was the semi between Denver and Vermont. Let's hope that PKs have had their moment and will now hibernate for the rest of winter.

I hope our own PK game is sharp. In Mitch I trust.

Class of '26 Verbal Commits and Offers/Discussion

@MangoZip hit on some of the possible reasons. I’m no longer involved in the recruiting scene, but if I had to guess, it’s probably either grades or that most of those offers aren’t actually on the table anymore. He also may have had someone in his ear telling him to go somewhere he can play early and be developed. Honestly, that’s some of the best advice a high school recruit can get in today’s setup if they aren’t already in line to receive a decent NIL package. Regardless, he looks like a playmaker and could see the field with some refinement. I also suspect he’s not really 185 lbs. -
In fairness to OU, they've always been more of a football school.
-
Some other others of note: 45 - Arkansas 50 - Seton Hall 51 - Missouri 56 - Wake Forest 57 - VCU 63 - Tosu 64 - Villanova 68 - Texas 69 - Wisconsin 208 - UMass

Shout-out to VB for all the hard work and being in the thick of things down the stretch. Sounds like we have a good foundation going forward.

Undetermined period of time? I'll go with 'upper body injury'.

Agree, he had to have very limited options when he committed to Akron. Those big offers likely came very early in the recruiting process and are non existent today. Many possible reasons - poor camp performance, high school film wasn’t as good as expected, grades, getting in trouble, coaching changes, etc., all possible reasons. Bottom line is that no kid is going to Akron if they had committable offers at Penn State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Miami, Georgia etc etc. It just doesn’t happen. -
Nate had to transfer to K State to lose to BG! I don't believe he ever lost to them as a Zip.

Catdaddy will surely chime in but there's just no way those offers were all committable -
Troy lost to West Georgia last night, dropping Kent's NET down to 165. Bowling Green is up to 63 in NET, putting them one spot behind Ohio State for the 2nd highest ranked school in Ohio.

That's the way this game is now. So we may as well embrace it. -
I have to believe that's the MO for a lot of sub 4- or 5-star HS seniors. P5 programs are loading up on established transfers and stealing seasoned guys from G5's, so 3-star incoming Fr.'s need to go to the minor leagues for a year or two if they want to see the field (rather than redshirt, or see spot duty). Then they can ditch us.
-
So we've got a verbal from a QB with offers from Syracuse, Alabama, Boston College, Colorado, Duke, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Nebraska, Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers, Temple, UCONN, USC, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia among others... and a verbal from a WR with offers from Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Miami, Mississippi State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, Pitt, Purdue, USF, Texas A&M, and West Virginia among others... 🧐

That would not be the worst thing for the Zips to emphasize, not at all. Hopefully they're getting the data on how much their guys leaving get paid so they can use that in marketing to potential recruits.
