  1. Today
  2. This is certainly one way to look at the conclusions of the season... We have been lucky to get three home games, but being up 2-0 at halftime with everything going our way and then to give the game away is the tough part to me. It is also tough knowing that one catastrophic half cost us an opportunity to just have to win two more games, against competition that is playing well but not better than us, to seize a second star. That Portland, Maryland, and Georgetown all also lost was a dream scenario for us. I really hope the NCAA finds a way to implement VAR. The outcomes of too many of these games is determined by controversial officiating decisions, and if a few go against the same team, it can feel insurmountable for one team to play against its usual competition and simultaneously against the handicap imposed by poor officiating.
  3. After the Tulane game, I think that Akron's 2 losses to Purdue and Yale were probably 2 of our better played games. I thought we played OK against Tulane but we played much better against Purdue and Yale. In other words, this team can play ok basketball and win on the road against a decent team. It is very early in the season but this might be one of Groce's most talented teams. Time will tell.
  4. Coaching matters. Cignetti is incredible.
  5. Crazy that we took Indiana to 4 OT just two years ago and probably should have won.
  6. And just like that, 2 G5s are in the Playoff. Nightmare scenario for the overlords.
  7. Three teams, Indiana, Texas Tech and Duke all won their first undisputed conference championships in more than 60 years and just put the college football playoff into chaos. 😁
  8. Was just watching the halftime of the ACC Championship game. They had a commercial with ACC bobbleheads talking about how great the ACC is. After watching that ad I think they should be left out of the playoff just for that. Ugh.
  9. It wasn’t a pretty game at times, but I would say our guys passed the test. Groce is sure challenging them with different styles of play this year.
  10. Huge game. Murray State was 87 NET coming into today's game. Another top 100 opportunity and potential Q2 matchup.
  11. He is going to be very important for this team, especially since Lyles sometimes gets himself into foul trouble.
  12. Toledo's heir apparent is heading to Cuse to be their DC. Wow.
  13. What a weird day for the MAC. BUGS drops one at home to Utah Valley by 11. Ohio beats Marshall out of nowhere. Toledo loses to Oakland. Buffalo with a very competitive 8 pt loss at home to a very good St. Bonnie team. Buffalo is legit. WMU, UMass, and Miami OH all won against very weak competition.
  14. It's big to Akron IMO. This is the type of game we typically drop inexplicably. Being on the road, this might end up being a Q2 win come season's end, too. Very solid performance. Akron shot above 40% again from 3; Akron has one of the best offenses in the country.
  15. The resources are the resources. We aren't in the SEC. We had enough talent to win 6-7 games this season. We need a coach (and it can be Joe Mo) that can coach and win games with the resources that we have, and hopefully community support can increase with the success. Anything else is just wishful thinking in regards to UA committing to football because it's been decades without actual support
  16. The Zips head to Vegas next Saturday to face to the Murray State Racers in the Jack Jones Classic. The Racers are 7-3 with wins over Bellarmine, Morehead State, George Washington, Little Rock, Nicholls, Mississippi Valley, Omaha, Northern State and Xavier, and losses to SMU, Middle Tennessee and McNeese State. Of their three losses, two came in the Caymans against Middle Tennessee, 90-87, and McNeese State, 73-70. Their other loss was 102-91 at SMU. From the Bellarmine website going into their game with Murray: MSU shoots 29.3 threes per game, 36th-most in the country, and ranks 99th connecting at a .360 clip. Defensively, the Racers are in the bottom third of the country allowing 77.3 points per game, a trait that could spell good fortune for the hot-shooting Knights on Saturday. Javon Jackson, playing at his fourth school in as many years, averages a team-best 16.3 points for MSU, 4th in The Valley. The senior guard has taken 116 shots, 52 more than anyone else on the team, but is shooting just .388. Fred King, a former Louisville commitment who played three seasons at Creighton, shoots a team-best .733 and is second behind Jackson with 12.2 points per game. On the perimeter, Bellarmine will need to keep an eye on Mason Miller, who is shooting .512 from deep.

  18. Yep. You're right, it's definitely hopeless. Just keep Joe for the next two years and hope we can find a D3 coach for half the salary in 2027. Winning is impossible, so let's save money. Hell, may as well just get four money games (why waste time with a fifth home game since it's not like there's any reason to care) lined up every year to help pay for other programs.
  19. That Joe Moorhead obviously isn't the answer doesn't mean Akron will hire the right coach. Both definitely can be true, especially when things are so hopeless here. Good try though.
  20. That makes this loss tougher with the higher seeds losing but still an unexpected season. Great job guys!
  21. Agreed. Classless to get in Tyler's or any player's face.
  22. Thought Barre had an excellent game for the minutes he was in.
  23. https://gozips.com/news/2025/12/6/mens-soccer-akron-falls-to-saint-louis-3-2 this link has a link to the Akron press conference and it also has a link to the St. Louis press conference It also has a PDF box score...which shows attendance of 1,918.
  24. WOW. Given that, any idea how much the overhauls cost? Has to be north of $10mill total
