I don't hate the field goal but I hate lining up in shotgun for 3rd and short.
-
Totally agree. Get the points on the board. And let Deshields keep taking kill shots apparently
-
Great start. Could go either way on that 4th and 1, but I don’t hate taking the points and keeping momentum.
-
Kent is dying to lose 52-0. Let's make it happen.
-
Legitimately a heck of a crowd for the game tonight.
-
Geez, go for it. And why is Wiley kicking?
-
Solid opening drives on both sides of the ball.

If the dopes who run the MAC/schools don't know the difference between a tagline and a brand, it can never be successful. MACtion is not a brand. It's a tagline. MACtion is an interesting catchphrase, but it doesn't effectively describe the essence of the games, which is empty stadiums, almost no noise, rain and cold, which is what the brand of weeknight games IS. It's a bad brand.

2025 Rankings and RPI thread
TennZip replied to Zip_ME87's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Zips were 19 in last week's coaches ranking.... Zips jump up to 14 in this week's ranking Georgetown at 15 and UConn is #26 https://unitedsoccercoaches.org/rankings/college-rankings/ncaa-di-men/ if Akron or Georgetown win the Big East conference tournament, it is my opinion that one of those 2 teams would deserve a top 8 NCAA tournament seed. -
Looks like the current deal expires after the 2026-27 school year.
-
They’ve actually been a fast riser early in the season. But I’m sure they’ll settle in the low 300s
-
Thanks for this! Been trying to figure out the best way to watch and definitely not signing up for ESPN Unlimited. PS: Anyone with YouTube TV make sure to claim your $20 off vouchers. There's also a $10 off for 6 months promo in the "manage plan" settings.

Iona beat Kansas City 105-91. They’re slowly creeping up the ranking up to 190 in kenpom.
-
8,100 and 8,900 announced attendance for the last two PCCC games at Infocision.
-
That surprises me. Although I can see Buffalo being more of a football and hockey school.
-
Up to three!! 🦅💩🚽💪🏽

Very true, Akron can't drop much. Like I've said, I expect more than last week. Side note...maybe we keep it to 7 PM kickoffs in the next MACtion contract, given there's no central time zone teams anymore?
-
This is actually where Akron has a small advantage. It's attendance from Saturday to Tuesday games can't drop by 10,000.
-
A very good article. Guess it depends what money ESPN is offering on a new deal to keep MAC attendance way down for the last of the season.
-
Good article about the origin of weekday MACtion games: https://www.forbes.com/sites/timcasey/2025/11/11/how-the-mid-american-conference-and-espn-made-maction-mid-week-football-popular/?fbclid=IwZnRzaAOAYThleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZAo2NjI4NTY4Mzc5AAEemo1YlrZA2EszPo3QuBDsIR2ejxJkA2It2G9NFoysihcLW258CHJJ9SWwHNQ_aem_YlVC2XEkdt_RBvARUvnIoA

Their issue was picking fruit one too many times from the Bobby Hurley/Nate Oats coaching tree. Eventually, the fruit soured with Whitesell and it killed all the momentum with their program. This is the exact reason why hiring Groce was such a big hire for Akron to sustain what KD had built. Canada's South Campus doesn't have a very strong athletics backing, so unless they strike gold with coaching hires (they've done well in football, too), they'll always find themselves with a middle of the MAC ceiling at best.
-
Kent has NIL, too, which I only know about thanks to the series of Pinky's Pathetic Promos this offseason where we saw a sad clown beg for money essentially after being rejected by Fordham (allegedly).
-
I don't think they have much NIL, which is one of their problems. I think only Akron, Miami, UMass, and maybe OU have money. I feel all the other schools just spend on football.
-
Maybe Buffalo is a good example that NIL alone can’t buy you a successful program. I have to think that university has some wealthy alumni.
