Marquette at Akron, Saturday 11/1/25 at 6 pm

Basically an eternal question at this point. Very little students (yes it was the night after Halloween). Also no group of youth players as lineup buddies so that can account for ~50 people. But not any real promotions, the end of the season has been like this for years now - Today

Zips are -7.5 according to Draft Kings for tomorrow's game, despite the ESPN matchup predictor only giving Akron a 56.8% chance to win.

I came here to say the exact thing, but "at Akron" was ambiguous because it was not mentioned in the context of the university or when he was in college, so it just as easily could have been understood as the Akron Aeros. Also, I wouldn't say it was a bad outing. He allowed one run and had a walk and two hits. In the greater context, he was bound to have an appearance that was similar to that. It could have been MUCH worse given that the bases were loaded. It's a shame though that the Blue Jays lost, especially in the manner that they did. In the 9th I thought we were going to possibly have our first Zips World Series Champion.

Looking at the schedule for the final matchday, there's a fairly straightforward way for Akron to qualify in the top 4 with a draw on Friday. If Akron draws, Georgetown beats Providence, and the UConn-Seton Hall game DOESN'T end in a draw... Akron would get the #4 seed. There's probably other routes that include a tiebreaker but since the tiebreakers are a little unclear, that's the simplest way to qualify with a draw. But let's just win so we don't have to scoreboard watch 😁

2025 Rankings and RPI thread
Zips1991 replied to Zip_ME87's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Zips up to #11 in the RPI - the highest RPI in the Big East. -
I really think last years team got an unfair shake with injuries they were always competitive the first 2/3s of the game then would just run out of gas. Really hope this can be a breakout year and they can make the mac tourney.

Another year of this fun battle that I always ramble on about! I’ve seen multiple sources project Akron/MAC winner a 12 seed and the first step to get there is by beating up the Sun Belt. It’ll also be a great chance for the women to start the season with a big win This is definitely the most interesting classic I’ve seen so far. With the addition of UMASS I think it will help put the MAC over the top. Troy is the highest ranked Sun belt team and they are only 124. If 2 of the directionals/NIU can get a scrappy win we should win this round. Every game counts. MACtion vs the world🔥

I’d love to see them inflate our conference rank. We legit could be a 12 seed this year if the head to heads shake out right

I missed Malik in attendance tonight, would've liked to have seen him! He's making great strides with Toronto. -

Nice win with what seemed to be several players unavailable. Great to see Mailk Henry in attendance tonight. -
Have you looked at their OOC schedule? They should be favorites in I believe every game, heavy favorites in a large chunk. Edit: BartTorvik has them as an underdog in 1 OOC game (+0.7) @EKU. Obviously preseason projections are severely flawed. I'm more just illustrating how soft their schedule appears on paper. https://barttorvik.com/team.php?team=Miami+OH&year=2026

I've searched and searched and cannot find the 2025 Men's soccer tiebreakers. Georgetown is in as the one seed. Creighton has 14, Akron, SHU, UConn and Providence all have 13 and St Johns has 10. As we know Akron wins and theyre in. We lost to St Johns and UConn and tied only SHU so I'm not confident of winning any tiebreakers if we're in a group of three or more in that muddle in the middle. Hopefully the Big East will provide some clarity before the games. It is amazing that that with one game left in the season, the Zips have lost only three games in three years in the conference, but have never beaten Providence UConn nor St. John's. There was also kind of a weird quirk in the schedule this year it seemed. It appeared as though we were going to have the same three East opponents every year alternating years. This year Connecticut replaced Providence. I don't know if it's random or not but I think I would have preferred to see Providence. Anyway, go Zips!

Attendance of 1,242 that is very disappointing last regular season home game the zips are number 20 in the coaches rankings the zips are number 12 in RPI. The Zips are competing for a Big East division title. why is attendance so poor? -
VCU gets a 2-1 win over Davidson as @Zips1991 alluded, UConn is now at 13 points as they got a 2-0 win over Butler Providence, Akron and UConn are all 4-2-1 Seton Hall is 3-0-4 those 4 teams tied for 3rd with 13 points Georgetown is first with 19 points Creighton has 14 points 3 huge games on Friday Georgetown at Providence Akron at Creighton UConn at Seton Hall Akron is in tournament with a win. Creighton is in tournament with a tie or win.

Not the type of play that will advance us in the playoffs, but it was enough to beat Marquette. This is a curious team. They have the talent to play at the highest level, yet they have not put it all together. Where was Remi? Ferguson cannot play FWD at the level we need. He would be better converted to D so he could get playing time in the future. I also echo another poster: where is Borneo? Is he back in the doghouse? Regardless our MF doesn't have it. They were all world against St L. U. and then fell off the face of the earth. Stefan and Jack Roman are consistent and bring quality. The rest have to show up sometime. As we are playing now we cannot go deep in the tourney. We'll get in, but I'm not expecting a lot.
