  1. Past hour
  2. They will just count as regular season games and not a MTE. We've played in that Don Haskins 4 team tournament that UTEP hosts while also playing in a proper MTE several times in the same year. We would just have to sacrifice an additional home game to play 2 neutral court games instead of 1 in that type of scenario.
  3. Sounds like it's off to the races with the Racers 🤦‍♂️
  4. Yep, one game per team. There's four games in total with Akron playing in the first game of the day, followed by three more. Some really decent teams are playing after Akron so it's too bad that it's not a tourney! Akron vs Murray State Santa Clara vs Arizona State UNLV vs Tennessee State UC San Diego vs Tulane
  5. Today
  6. No matter the matchup (except Redwood Tree rosters like Purdue), the opponent will still have to keep up with Akron's offense.
  7. Bad match up for Zips: They rebound well, play fast, and are stingy with 3 point defense.
  8. This should be a high-scoring affair with the Zips averaging 96.2 ppg and Murray State averaging 89ppg. Murray State leads the MCV in 3-point shooting. Will the Zips be able to guard the perimeter? Recently, it seems to be a struggle. Murray also focuses on offensive rebounding to get extra possessions. They've had games with 19 and 16 offensive boards. Can the Zips limit second chance points?
  9. I don't think we would be able to do another tournament since we participated in the Paradise Jam
  10. Looks like they had a few players listed as questionable earlier tonight with "illness" who ended up playing.
  11. I did not realize this was a one game event. I thought it was a tourney where a team would advance. Glad we get a good opponent but disappointed the Zips only get one game.
  12. Although he is with the team, he was still inactive for tonights game.
  13. It's part of the gig if you aren't very marketable or the institution you work for has no idea what to do with you. My guess is Ryan Day doesn't ever talk to a donor who has never given a dollar. His time is probably spent with donors who have already contributed. He doesn't pick up the phone and call anyone at this point. Most fundraising is probably done off season and over lunches.
  14. Frankly ... sports on the radio is the best way to go. I remember growing up listening to Missouri Valley Conference games on the radio.
  15. We're a middle of the road team talent wise based on recruiting rankings, and we finished middle of the road. The fact that JoeMo can even put together middle of the road talent levels with the restrictions he faces is an achievement. Then finishing even where he should based on talent level, given the practice restrictions, is still a notch in his belt. I get he's not out pounding the pavement for donors and maybe that's part of the gig these days, but the guy has done okay with what he has available to him imo
  16. Making a mountain out of a molehill is a good way to justify looking for another conference. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/college-football-playoff-selection-notre-dame-ad-miami-acc/
  17. That’s my guess. I assumed Perrymond took Cobbald’s place and we’ll probably find a two young DLs in the portal for Collins and Smith-Ray.
  18. By now I guess it's safe to say that neither Yeboa Cobbold nor Josiah Collins are going to sign? @catdaddyp
  19. Yesterday
  20. Ah gotcha. And that's correct but we'll never know because we lost 2-3 games we absolutely should've won. I just don't see the deeper problems being THAT big of a deal when, on the field, we look very similar to the other team. And that's probably a huge credit to JoeMo's recruiting ability, but the Xs and Os are incredibly disappointing for an "offensive genius."
  21. W/ six wins they still wouldn't go bowling this year bc of the 885 APR in 21/22 that dragged the average. Maybe UA files an injunction and wins, maybe not. I agree JoeMo is part of the problem but I think there's deeper and bigger issues than just the HC. Maybe you're right, idk.
  22. That's not what I said. In fact, my point is that despite those hindrances, Akron is quite talented and should continue to be going forward. The new HS class is small but impressive. Talent retention is a problem, but every school is going through that. I don't know what you're referencing with the 6 wins, but this team had 5, hence why they aren't bowling. No matter how much anyone wants to dissect the problems with the program, the results on the field are directly tied to the head coach.
  23. Radio broadcast for me! Huge Game! Let’s go get it.
  24. I am sure many of you are much smarter than I am and i openly admit it. This is a pretty good article it is long but to me interesting and I think some of you may find it interesting. Walgren suggested the football team cut three players for poor academics and they didn't and then a fourth who had a gpa of .74 and they did not. It goes into depth for the reasoning and i'm not pointing fingers in agreement or disagreement just saying the article is well written and explains a lot. It also says at the end the ban "could continue into next year" but that is just a possibility. I am relying some of you brainiacs to translate a lot of this for me. I do think Mr Brown did a good job though.

  25. While 8 LOI is thin the quality is great. 247 isn't a sure fire site but Beals and Riggins are listed top 5 all time. Site seems to hit more than it misses. Fun to look back at some of these names. https://247sports.com/college/akron/season/2026-football/commits/
  26. The amount of laziness and sleeze that goes into college athletics is such a turnoff.
  27. Let 'em keep it. We play them Jan 3rd.
  28. And yet they received 2 votes in the AP rankings. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/rankings
