Shout-out to VB for all the hard work and being in the thick of things down the stretch. Sounds like we have a good foundation going forward.

Undetermined period of time? I'll go with 'upper body injury'.

Class of '26 Verbal Commits and Offers/Discussion
MangoZip replied to Blue & Gold's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
Agree, he had to have very limited options when he committed to Akron. Those big offers likely came very early in the recruiting process and are non existent today. Many possible reasons - poor camp performance, high school film wasnât as good as expected, grades, getting in trouble, coaching changes, etc., all possible reasons. Bottom line is that no kid is going to Akron if they had committable offers at Penn State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Miami, Georgia etc etc. It just doesnât happen. -
Nate had to transfer to K State to lose to BG! I don't believe he ever lost to them as a Zip.

Catdaddy will surely chime in but there's just no way those offers were all committable -
Troy lost to West Georgia last night, dropping Kent's NET down to 165. Bowling Green is up to 63 in NET, putting them one spot behind Ohio State for the 2nd highest ranked school in Ohio.

That's the way this game is now. So we may as well embrace it. - Today

I have to believe that's the MO for a lot of sub 4- or 5-star HS seniors. P5 programs are loading up on established transfers and stealing seasoned guys from G5's, so 3-star incoming Fr.'s need to go to the minor leagues for a year or two if they want to see the field (rather than redshirt, or see spot duty). Then they can ditch us.

So we've got a verbal from a QB with offers from Syracuse, Alabama, Boston College, Colorado, Duke, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Nebraska, Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers, Temple, UCONN, USC, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia among others... and a verbal from a WR with offers from Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Miami, Mississippi State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, Pitt, Purdue, USF, Texas A&M, and West Virginia among others... đ§

That would not be the worst thing for the Zips to emphasize, not at all. Hopefully they're getting the data on how much their guys leaving get paid so they can use that in marketing to potential recruits. -

Perhaps just looking for an early opportunity to play that way he can cash in on NIL in 1-2 years. -

M: Jack Roman, Akron(m) - Roman was a headache for Duke as he assisted one and played all 90 minutes in the 2-0 victory.

Akron improves to #40 in NET. I imagine a lot of that was driven because of Iona moving from #168 yesterday to #138 today after their 23 point win over Delaware. BGSU improved dramatically and now sits at #63 after their upset against Kansas State.

I had to scroll to the top of the thread to make sure I had hadn't inadvertently fallen into the football forum. LOL.

Kiffin looks out for Kiffin. Always looking for the bigger, better deal. Ole Miss was willing to match the 13 million a year salary, but what they couldnât do is match the promised 25-30 million player payroll that LSU was offering. Kiffin felt, right or wrong that winning a couple of games in the playoffs was going to be the ceiling at Ole Miss. Because he wouldnât have the depth to compete against Georgia, Alabama or Ohio State. Also, last year Ohio State won the Championship with a running back they poached from Ole Miss, Quinshon Judkins. That had to sting. All while Kiffin is trying to piece a team together with transfers. Bottomline, if you canât win a Championship in Oxford, Miss (SEC), then college football is in a worse place than college basketball. And thatâs saying something.
