  3. Every Zip coach and every Zip player should be very proud. Phenomenal effort....especially with the injury of Stefan Dobrijevic ...early in the game Thinking good thoughts for Stefan Duke did not have a single shot on goal. Zips were the much more skilled soccer team and the much classier, professional soccer team. I don't slight any zip by mentioning names......as all of the starters were outstanding..... and every single sub....starting with Ignacio Alem and Jack Sullivan....ending with Jamai Royer, Nathan Ferguson and Braxton Hayes.....played outstanding fundament soccer. Thorough beat down of an ACC Powerhouse...... For the zips fans living far from Akron, I also want to compliment Chad Welker and womens asst soccer Josh Kay. Josh and Chad were outstanding on commentary.

  5. Should have had four winners ... Steve Zakuani in 2008 as well as Emil last year. Still angry about both! In 2008, Zakuani scored 20 goals and 7 assists over 23 games to become a finalist for the Hermann Trophy Marcus Tracy: He won the 2008 Hermann Trophy for the nation's most outstanding college player while at Wake Forest University where he scored 13 goals and 10 assists in 24 games. 2024 Emil Jaaskelainen: Started all 21 games for Akron in 2024 en route to recording an NCAA-best 23 goals and 54 points, while also leading the nation in game-winning goals (6), goals per game (1.10) and points per tilt (2.57)... Michael Adedokun: Led Ohio State with 11 goals, 11 assists and 33 points

  7. Akron loses big to the coach they fired who started 2 freshmen and 2 sophomores, with 4 of their 5 starters being Ohio recruits. Big yikes.

  10. I didn't think we played very well, yet we still cruised and emptied the bench at the end of the game. Lyles played great. Evan Mahaffey had a solid game. Eric had bursts of being the best player on the floor. I was pleasantly surprised to see Barre. Looked like a highly skilled offensive big. A little slow on D and he didn't rebound very well. Wish we had a better crowd. This team deserves better. Go Zips.

  11. Barre with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 blocks in 13 minutes. Should be a rotation player moving forward.

  12. I feel the same way. The offense is clicking, but the defense is just okay. By no means locked down.

  15. If Duke wins it gets really interesting because the playoffs guarantee to the 5 highest rated conference champions, and JMU and either Tulane/North Texas would likely be rated higher than Duke. But I think you're right if JMU loses, UNLV could sneak in there.

  16. The video packages in general are light years better this year than previous years. It looks like a professional production now.

  17. Bucknell seem like they’ll be pretty solid at their level but not good enough to play above. Good chance to improve on the defensive end

  18. 22-9 end of 1Q. We’re going to get run out of our own gym by the coach ole Chucky ran out of town aren’t we.

  22. Akron shot 65% from the field and 52% from 3 (again). There are several reasons for these high field goal percentage. This team is not selfish and I saw a lot of great passes to open men and some great interior passing. Tevari had some amazing assists. This team had around 25 assists. We were also able to penetrate and Amani was able to post up and get some baskets down low. Most importantly, we are making our open 3 ball. If this team can shoot this well on a daily basis we will be tough to beat. Great outside shooting makes every team look good.

  24. Akron shot 65% from the field and 52% from 3 (again). Akron's 3P% is absurd, yes, but their FG efficiency is sustainable. Why? Akron's 2PA are largely aggressive drives or cuts to rhe basket, meaning we're either laying the ball up or dunking the ball. Most teams have a chunk of their 2PAs come from hook shots or bigs trying to get the ball around/over a defender. The only weakness this team has is interior size and I'm not sure too many teams will have the athleticism, size, or talent to limit our versatility.

  29. Whenever Sharron is the floor general, he tries to do too much. He needs to learn to play within himself at all times, not just when there's another guard on the floor to keep him in check. What a night for Amani.

  30. Miami finished the season tied with only Ohio and Toledo, lost to both but still made the MAC Championship game? I understand they beat Western Michigan and neither Ohio nor Toledo did, but man I think they need to relook at the tie criteria when you have two head to head losses with the teams you're tied with and still advance.

  36. That's fine, all the good analytical people who could offer insight and breakdown match-ups have long been chased off. It's mainly just now loud mouth clowns who think whoever screams louder has the better argument.

  37. Look at Tavari...he was pretty underwhelming his first 2 seasons, and he's been lights-out ever since. Lyles was a 5 mpg & 5 fouls per game center. Now he's dominant. Lots of examples of guys who get better every season.
