  1. I think the offseason priorities are: 1.) Bring in a grad transfer QB, or some seasoned guy with a decent track record who perhaps got squeezed out by a young phenom. 2.) Need a couple seasoned OL's. Easier said than done, but we need a couple more solid guys that we've presently got. 3.) Identify an returning player to be the #2 QB. Develop him. Quickly. 4.) Find your 2024 kicker. We can't have a 3-kicker rotation again. 5.) Replace Lingard and Anderson with someone good. Maybe Kellom is one? 6.) Get Alex Adams back on the field. 7.) Keep Tibesar. 8.) Find another groomable young QB if the ones on the roster aren't going to work out. Don't hang on to a recruiting mistake...move on. 9.) Get better in short yardage situations. Much better. 10.) Make the fans happy. They've been through a brutal stretch. 7 D1 wins in 6 years is unfathomable. Our 2023 offense was unwatchable. Beg, borrow, steal...do whatever you can to post a winning record in 2024. The days of 0-, 1, or 2-win seasons are over. We had a defense good enough to win 6 or 7 games this year. And the worst offense in memory.

  2. This game just sums up the season. Terrible play calling in short yardage situations, the obligatory Cuff interception, stupid penalty that prolongs a drive or negates a fumble recovery, defense playing well enough to win but the offense sucks so bad that give it up. And we keep wondering why Lindgard does not get the ball more.

Top Drawer soccer is showing that Akron women's soccer has added a new commitment for 2025 If I go back to a post that I did on October 9th, it looks like the most recent commitment is Addison Hall, a midfielder from Connecticut FC https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer/college-soccer-details/women/akron/clgid-128/tab-commitments#sectionblock

  17. The defense played very well all things considered as they only gave up 236 total yards. It was a shame that our offense returned to its poor form right on cue and gave them so little help. It was a shame too because they had some good drives but came away with nothing to show for them.

  28. After games were completed...as of October 29th, the zips were #30 in RPI. With the results of games played from October 30 to Nov. 3, the zips had dropped to #35 in RPI (before they took the field at Xavier).. The zips RPI percentage as of Saturday morning Nov. 4...was .5582 After losing to Xavier on Saturday night, the zips dropped to #38 in RPI RPI percentage dropped almost a full point down to .5488. Yesterday was not a good day for teams that played the zips during the season. The zips 3 strongest non league opponents were Notre Dame, FIU and Vermont. All 3 went belly up in their conference tournament quarterfinals. The zips really needed all 3 to win their leagues. Notre Dame was the top seed in the ACC tournament and they lost last night to #9 seed in ACC...Louisville. FIU lost in the American Athletic conference quarters to 5-7-3 Florida Atlantic Vermont lost in the American East conference quarterfinals to 6-7-4 NJIT as a result of those 3 tough non conference teams losing early, the ZIPS strength of schedule went down as of this morning, the RPI for the zips is #43 Zips RPI % is .5453 Davidson RPI is 44...they are still playing in their conference tourney...they would probably pass the zips with a semifinal win Yale is 47...they are still playing in their conference..they would probably pass the zips with a semifinal win From looking at the numbers, it looks like an RPI of 38 will be the last team in..... if there are 3 or 4 upsets in conference tourney, the last team could be an RPI of 34 or 35 23 conferences get automatic bids 25 at large selections. 29. Gone were the max protect and 2 TE sets we ran last week. Back to the regular 11 and 10 personnel. In turn, the run game was an afterthought and the QBs were often pressured. Miami was credited with 20 total pressures, including 6 sacks. Whale of a game by the defense. Over and over they were asked to stand tall with poor field position and answered the call. Amos is a tough RB to keep contained and the defense did a great job with the exception of a few plays. They were also able to consistently put pressure on Smith and limit him in both rushing and passing. Not a game I expected to win at this point in the season, but there were opportunities that we couldn’t capitalize on. The two overturned turnover calls also hurt. We’ve underutilized Lingard almost all season and now we await his status after leaving the game with an injury. Definitely saw some frustration boiling over with the offense last night. That was first time I’ve seen multiple players display it throughout the game. One positive is that a few players have a shot at making an All-MAC team by season’s end - Nunnally, T. Jones, McCoy, Fish, Lewis. Maybe Gathings can sneak in on the offensive side depending on his final performances. QB - Undercuffler (Bullock) RB - Lingard (Anderson) (Kellom) WR - Gathings (Anderson) WR - George (Norton) WR - Walker (Golden) TE - Banks (Newell) LT - Chambers (Blanchard) LG - Frank C - T. Williams (Georges) RG - Lyons RT - N. Williams (Kindred) DE - Nunnally (L. Jackson) DT - Lavea (Moore) DT - T. Jones (Robinson) DE - Adler (A. Smith) LB - Fish (Griffin) LB - Cooper (McCoy) NB - Lewis CB - Tallandier (Golden-Nelson) CB - Durant S - N. Thompson S - C. Thomas (D. Johnson)

  30. As I understood it, the second leg would match-up teams based off of NET rankings. I don't know if they would permit a rematch or not if the cards played out that way.

  34. Thanks Z-Claws. I'm glad the sky is not falling. 😁 I would go with my best against OSU too. Competing against OU a day later is a good opportunity to build depth. I am very proud of how good our lady S & D team has been over the years. They are the best women's program on campus year in year out.

  35. Is there ANY gut feel left in coaching or is it really necessary to spend a good chunk of a play clock reading off the entire left side of a Denny's menu ... only to call a play to a TE running laterally who would have been stopped for no gain? Come on, Joe! 3rd and 1, 4th and 1, 2nd and 3rd and goal ... never expected this.

  36. This is by far the most boring/forgettable game of the Moorhead era. Never really feels like we’ve had a chance to win, haven’t necessarily done anything well, save for some good defense. Almost a carbon copy of last year’s Miami game. How much is ESPN wasting on this game? Throw in, Miami has one of their best teams of the last decade and the place looks and sounds like a ghost town.

  41. Get used to this ... Bobcats are really small w/no real size or presence inside. Loads of guards/wings however which points to a lot of press and trap, at least early in the season. Let's see how long into the season it holds up.
