    This team sucks. I'm not in the Joe Moorhead firing camp by any means, but goodness he gets a lot of excuses. People still want to bring up Arth to blame, come on now. Reality is everyone here put so much stock into Moorehead that it just seems like people have a hard time calling him out and admitting maybe he isnt the guy we all thought he was coming here.

     

    Him and this staff said during camp that this team was different, their mindset and skills. Well, they are absolutely pathetic on the field. I know he took over a horrible program, but with his supposed reputation as an offensive genius, he deserves criticism. Sorry, we cant blame Arth for everything from here on out. JoeMo will get a lot of credit if/when he can turn things around, but he deserves blame along the way with a performance like this. 

     

    We just got our asses kicked by a 1-4 team. We didnt keep it competitive even though we have the same record going into the game. They looked like an SEC team out there with how badly they embarrassed Akron today.

    Not surprised by this. I always feel kind of embarrased when I see recruits at the stadium. Many of them likely play in front of a more lively HS crowd than a Zips crowd. I'm not happy to say that, just being honest. I wish it was different. I truly do. And I dont know if it ever will be.

    I'll take a stab here at some of the attendance comments, even if most disagree with me here:

     

    I think as a Zips fan you just have to accept youre a fan of a program and school that will never be popular. 15,000 consistently at a game would be HUGE (that's the stadium half full). The fact is Akron will just never be Ohio State. Im not proud of that either. The Zips could go undefeated 3 years in a row and win their bowl game each of those 3 years and NE Ohio will still rather watch Ohio State on Saturdays and even Akron students will skip the Zips games to watch the Buckeyes in their dorm or at a bar. 

     

    Someone else mentioned on here about the Rubberducks games being fun and such. Very good comparison, however kids aren't really born and bred to be Indians (excuse me, Guardian) fans, so getting some minor league action in as opposed to going to downtown Cleveland is a perk. However, on Saturdays, children are bred to watch Ohio State football. Most kids goes to U of Akron for any given reason, however they prefer to watch the Buckeyes on Saturday afternoon.

     

    In my opinion, no matter how much Akron could win, they may get increased interest and attendance,  however, Buckeyes will still always prevail in people's attention and overall popularity. Its lame, but it is what it is.

By "we are close" I just now translate it to "we suck but I'm such a big fan that it hurts to admit the truth, so I'll just say something positive"

    Sure, the money is good for the university, but as a fan it takes away a lot for me personally. Like, it's an expectation as an Akron fan that I just need to expect 2 loses right out of the gate that could be potentially embarrassing and give some big school practice games essentially with easy wins that pad stats. Yeah, the university benefits from the money, but its depressing to think that the MAC is just a "whore" for lack of better terms lol. I dont know, I'm conflicted on this yearly.

    I know DJI isnt the most popular Zip, but I feel so bad for him. You can tell he REALLY wanted the win for him and the team and he did everything he could. Hes had a long career at Akron without much winning, I was hoping he could have the memory of going into a Big 10 stadium and winning. Too bad his kicker sucks.

    Oh and first time poster here, Browns fan haha, and a Tar Heels basketball fan also. Got a Master's degree from Akron back in 2018 and been a fan since.🙂

    This game is actually winnable. I thought KY could have been, but even before season started I had this one circled as a possible win. I mean, everything has to go right for Akron, dont get me wrong, and the offense and defense need to step up. Indiana is in the Big 10, but they aren't an Ohio State or Michigan after all. A win this weekend...just imagine how awesome!
