Just wanted to pop in and say Tavari is going to be GOOD! Excited to see him continue to grow!

Doesn’t seem like he really wants to be here. Guess he’s trying to get what he thinks is best for himself, but doesn’t exactly project like a player who would spend his career here if he would recommit.
Totally agree, my thoughts exactly. Even if he ends up a Zip, I wouldnt be exactly excited about him anymore

He just tweeted that his recruitment is 100% open, so we shall see

I wonder if Jennings will ever play QB at Akron? I am starting to think no. Irons is the sure starter (and good!), and I think Wasel is the future.

I get stoked each time there is a post of a new commit! Let's gooo!!!!

Not to sound dumb, but what typically goes on when a recruit makes an official visit? Seems like a few are coming this weekend, so what type of things would be happening for them?

This kid is going to be good. He reminds me of Pat Mahomes - technique could use some work but overall fluid, athletic, can throw in any arm slot, keeps his eyes down the field, etc.
Agreed! I'm SO excited about the future with Wasel. I'm confident in Irons next season and then he can hopefully turn the keys over to a ready Wasel the season after

I believe that the football early signing day is now one month away (catdaddyp please correct me if I am wrong). I have reviewed the commit list in the Nation and have attended and watched the games this year and here are my comments on the additional needs. I am assuming that the current recruits are good and competent.
-1. Ensure Wassel remains committed. A future QB is greatly needed. If he is red-shirted, he could be a 4-year starter.
-2. A senior QB transfer to bridge the gap for Wassel
-3. Defensive linemen, one additional freshman 300 lb DT and 3 transfer portal additions due to the graduation losses
-4. WR, one portal transfer to replace Jacques-Louis. We currently have 3 excellent transfer receivers, and one addition will allow the Zips to sustain the three good receivers, and this addition will allow the young WR's to develop.
-5. OL, one portal transfer to replace Whigan and allow the youngsters to develop
-6. DB, one portal transfer to allow the youngsters to develop
-7. LB, one portal transfer, two if Bubba is not coming back. I think it is crazy that he may be coming back for his 7th season.
-8. TE, No needs this year
-9. RB, No needs this year, Coach Joe has raved about Kellom, and we have Wiley, Price, and Norrils
I am not sure about the allowable number of recruits, but here are my thoughts. Based on the commitment list and my comments, the recruitment numbers are:
High School Seniors - 16
Portal Transfers - 9
I am also curious how many players Coach is going to shed off of the current roster.
In Coach JoeMo we trust!!!
My friend has Twitter and sent me a tweet from Wasel from a few days ago that he was excited one of his HS teammates was offered by Akron (class of 2026). That leads me to believe he is fully committed!

Any rumblings of any Zips headed to portal?...

I think Irons as QB 1 next season, with Wasel redshirting, is a great scenario, personally.

Mods: Can you add "your thoughts?" Or something in the title of this thread? I think it comes across as my thoughts but I was hoping for more of getting others opinions on this season. Thanks!

Steele Wasel and his team lost in the state title game today. Great high school career, excited to see him as a Zip next!

Well, the 2022 season has come to an end. Lots to say!
I think I was expecting more simply because of our hire for head coach and the recruits he managed to get in a short amount of time. However, it dawned on me I didn't factor in much that he was taking over for Arth and that mess. Oh, and the messes before Arth. My excitement blinded me by facts.
All in all, based on the play the last few weeks, and with JoeMo having a full offseason to recruit, I feel the future is bright and next season should be an improvement. I'm ready to renew my season tickets again NOW.
What are your thoughts on this season, everyone?

Bummer of a loss. However, the future is bright for the Akron Zips.

Undercuffler is fine as our "Gary Danielson" or "Don Strock", but I don't see him as our starter. Arm strength and accuracy just aren't there.
I really hope Irons stays (which I think he will). Then have Wasel waiting in the wing. Not sure where Jennings stands, but our future looks bright with Irons then Wasel, at least.

Uh oh..UNdercuffler down

What is the score?
16-3 Akron

Do I think Irons is going to leave? No
Do I feel more comfortable with Undercuffler IF Irons would leave? Yes!

Go Zips!!!
Enjoy it fellas, this is the last Zips football action until next fall 😔

If Deion was able to land the # 1 recruit in the nation at an FCS school, I'm sure he would do just fine recruiting at FBS level. I think it would be awesome to see him at Cincinnati.

Does anyone else feel like Tom Herman probably falls in the good OC but not a HC after many chances?
I don't know, he had two great seasons at Houston with an undefeated record at home during his time there. I think he was perfect for that gig, but then got greedy and wanted to go the University of Texas, which has been a kiss of death for coaches since Mack Brown left.
