Looks like it. Wow. I believe all 3 of these guys have nice offer lists. I can’t think of a single OL in the Arth era that had another FBS offer period! These guys are exciting, but kind of stinks we likely won’t benefit from them til a few years down the road. I like one more transfer to compliment the OL and address the “now”.

I had this conversation with Bowden a number of years ago on how to recruit players from the South. He mentioned that back in the day there weren't a lot of smaller D1 schools in the South so many came up North to play ball. He would learn that a player he was recruiting would often have a father, uncle, cousin, etc that played in the MAC or similar conference that could vouch for the school and coach. That and offering playing time helps 😉

That makes sense.  A little easier to sell than the weather angle 😉

Anyone who's lived in constant 92 degrees with 92% humidity knows it's no picnic, let alone practice football & play games in it. It's not often temps get this low before the end of football season in Nov.   If I was a FL/GA kid I would be looking north!

Your car would be one of the few going north for the winter 😂

There is going to he a committee formed to decide what our branding should look like. It will consist of a mixture of UA staff, long time season ticket holders and other marketing experts. Everything is on the table.

Almost 70% like the Z on here, pretty strong.  I hope they are watching ZN.

  5. This pic of one of our commits got me thinking.....what about starting a campaign within the community to pick the primary logo for UA's sports team.  In this pic Coach JoMo has script, Dijon has Z, the other coach has the FTRoo 😠.

Through the media, present some awesome logos, let the community create some too.  If someone creates the winner, give them some $$.

    Create an event!

Have a reveal on a specific date similar to what the WFT is doing on 2/2/22 WFT Reveal.

Build excitement around our new coach, new team, new identity!

You now have buy in from the community!

The more I look at and read about this coaching staff, the more I like it. I hope those who stuck around embrace this staff because the experience they get as a football players will be changing for what I hope they feel is better. The experience is going to be more challenging, physically and intellectually. This is a D-1A staff. The days of D3 coaches is over and these new guys have a lot to teach you. Embrace it.

I once worked for a division leader who told the management group I worked for, "We are going to change the people or we are going to change the people." Those who stuck around need to pay close attention to this sentence.

I love the staff he has put together.  We can't afford the actual coordinators from P5s but we have hired bright young coaches who have had incredible mentors and come from big programs.  They may be young but they will be hungry to make names for themselves.  Very smart IMHO.

Specific to our plans to ensure our brand and spirit logos are generating energy and excitement for our program, I'm pleased to share we've kicked off this initiative. Our goal is to center on a consistent, aligned identity across all platforms, channels, and facilities including uniforms/practice gear, digital/social, game presentation, fan experience/eCommerce etc. Our intent is to reimagine a comprehensive identity that is connected, not fragmented; modern and unique, but aligned with the University as a whole; considers the tradition of our program, but ignites a fresh outlook on Akron Athletics and drives engagement with Akron students, fans, and the community.

You guys better watch out; you are going to bring the "stars don't matter" folks out of the wood work with all kinds of exceptions to the rule.

An interesting survey, just to gauge the feeling of the zips nation room, would call for a simple yes/no answer to the question "in college football are stars and talent positively related?" My guess would be "yes" will win.

No kidding.  Who is playing for the National Championship?  And who has had the best recruiting in the last 3 years? 🎤

That list of “all-time commits” is absolutely laughable. I follow this program religiously and can only recall a handful of players at the top ever doing anything significant, with Deryn Bowser probably being just about the only one to live up to expectation.

The point of my comment is that the bar is being raised.  It appears the players we are targeting and picking up are much higher rated than what we have been able to sign in the past - I view this as a positive.

If you get one 3 star player every 3-4 years, the chances of them failing are pretty high, especially with bad coaching.

A 5 star QB is not going to live up to his potential throwing to 1 star receivers and 1 star OCs.

A 5 star QB is not going to live up to his potential behind a bunch of 1 star OL.

I guarantee if you look at the recruiting ratings in college and the MAC there is a correlation to top recruiting ratings and championships.

  10. I just don't know why we wouldn't want to be unique AND get away from the last 3 years of script embarrassment.

Fresh start!  Rebrand! It has already been created so no effort needed.

We've got Rooheads on the football field, "Z" on the basketball court, script Akron on football helmets, "Z" on the Gozips website, etc.  Consistency and repetition drives branding.

The "Z" is cool and I can't think of another school that could use it.

Like the rest of you I am more interested in Ws though.

I would think your use of HIS isn't because you think JT is JC, but I'm not certain of that. Lol

My point with my comment was that stating "No wonder he doesn't feel too embraced." doesn't seem to agree with JT holding his party at UA's Infocision Stadium.

I, too, would have thought that UA would have done something to involve average Zips fans in the celebration of JT's HoF induction. After all, how many former Zips are in the Pro Football HoF just 15 miles or so south of The University of Akron? UA seems to have its "hand" out quite often looking for donations from us. Perhaps they could have sponsored some activities around JT's induction and sold tickets, items, etc. as a fundraiser. Maybe even asked JT if he would be open to raffling off some tickets for a lucky few to attend his celebration at Infocision. Further evidence of the shortcomings of previous leadership...actually, lack thereof.

💯 UA leadership has been pathetic.  Hopefully things are different now.
