Meanwhile, the circus school to the east is doing their best Big 12 impression and selling themselves to the highest bidder.

Aren't we selling ourselves to the highest BIG-10 bidder?

AAC may have had enough. I will respect the decision. They can't keep up. They should be included in a future G5 conference/division. It would be good for everyone.

Have to agree with the poster. Not sure why AAC would jump the gun on this and limit their own conference. Some form of NIL salary cap is coming as it’s already being discussed by ADs and HCs (in particular Big10 and SEC). Not sure what it’ll look like since there is so much to hash out and they have to make sure whatever they decide isn’t struck down by the courts.

Maybe they finally looked at their checkbooks.  Reality is a powerful motivator.

That's potentially the nail in the coffin for UCONN and Memphis in the AAC, which would most likely lower the ceiling for success, which would mean less revenue for the conference.

That's a bold strategy, Cotton.

I'm not disagreeing, just asking. Where are they going to go? ACC comes to mind.

The limits on NIL are interesting. There are limits to NIL, but not income per player in general. Theoretically, the two schools could stay and they could find external revenue sources for players in key sports.

No idea what they do. Memphis is more Big 12 material. UCONN could go anywhere except the SEC. The ACC's imminent uncertainty and instability don't seem very attractive.

With the exception of basketball, the Big Ten already has a Rutgers. The ACC makes more sense. Nobody in the ACC is going anywhere anytime soon. FSU can whine, but they signed a contract.

UCONN is already in the Big East for basketball. Not sure AAC moves affecting football are going to drive them to the point of leaving the Big East in basketball.

Miami, VA Tech, Syracuse, Pittsburgh and Boston College were also in the Big East before joining the ACC. It was an easy decision back then and an easier decision today.

UCONN has a great basketball program and have won national championships under three different coaches in the past 25 years. I would argue they would get even better in the ACC because the level of competition would draw even better recruits than they are already getting.

I don’t have a subscription to Crain’s, but a byline here is suggesting that “the Zips are looking to lighten their non-conference schedule in future years in hopes of boosting their football program.” Evidently KSUcks is happy to keep getting pounded for money.

Good. We desperately need wins because we need fans. Nobody (except maybe Chicago Cubs & long suffering Cleveland Browns fans?) will remain emotionally invested in perpetual losers. And last year really knocked the pee & vinegar out of me. Usually by this time of year I am READY FOR SOME ZIPS FOOTBALL!!!!  But this year I'm feeling like I assume Joe Akron typically feels... not wanting summer to end.

They need to win because they need some momentum with the program. If it's only about making money, the athletes students alumni fans and general community around Akron are not being well served by a department at a state run university.

I haven't been less interested in college football starting in forever, but I don't think I'm the target audience anymore. The target audience has gone from football fans to degenerate gamblers and drunks.

As many know I have Wake Forest season tickets. This will be the last year I buy them before the early known starting times are released. So far, four of their six home games are starting at 6:30 or later. This is just terrible. I'm not interested in sitting in a college football stadium at 11 PM watching Wake Forest vs Cal so the conferences can pocket some extra cash by selling gambling app advertisements. I don't mind one or two 7PM starts, but this is ridiculous. There is a good chance I've flushed at least $600 of the $1,200 I spend on tickets down the drain, but it won't happen next year. Here is the catch. I think that as long as there is TV money flowing in, they don't care about my game experience or money for that matter. College football has quickly been ruined.

They have turned the buzz of college football anticipation into a quiet hum matches only by those who aren't good at singing in church.
