Let'sGoZips94
Great article in the Toledo Blade with anonymous answers from MAC ADs. Some call outs... - Doesn't seem like the UMASS addition was anywhere near unanimous or even discussed much. - Akron is often named the toughest football job due to our financial priorities being elsewhere. 2
GP1
Very good. Thanks for posting. Their answers supporting MACtion range from nonsensical to complete BS. It has been horrible for the league. They think it's innovative? In what way? These people are morons. Am I the only one who noticed how few of their answers referenced their athletic departments benefiting the athletes students alumni fans and general communities around their schools? MAC athletic directors could give a flying poop about the schools they work for.

Very interesting. A wide variety of positions on important topics.
72 Roo
Thanks LetsGo. I enjoyed the article in that I felt there was some honesty. I was surprised at how many AD's seemed to like the weekday games of MACtion. I don't and never have. I especially respect the comments of one AD who said rivalry games should absolutely not be played on weekdays. The respect the AD's had for Toledo was anticipated, but I was surprised at how much credit is given to WMU. I don't see that. Perhaps their new arena has influenced them. I understand the mention of Akron as one of the most difficult places to coach in football. Yet last year we lost 7 games by seven or less points. I wonder if three of those games had gone our way would they still feel the same way? History is what it is and we deserved their low opinions. When we do turn the corner I bet they will be envious. Their reasoning is completely nonsense. Innovative? If a company introduced what they believed was a innovative product into their market place and people ran away in droves, heads would roll. But then again, they do get a lot of calls from their friends when the games are on.

Because building a new indoor practice facility and 30K on-campus stadium indicates a lack of football financial priority..

Hilltopper
The football budget dwarfs any other sport at Akron. The only thing lacking in football is winning games.

I see a football program that is set up to fail in an effort to do little more than bringing in as much money as possible. They administration isn't trying to win. As several of the ADs mentioned, we spread out our spend into sports like soccer and basketball. Many MAC schools are throwing everything they have at football, which is a big reason why the MAC has regressed so much in MAC basketball. You only have Akron, Kent, Toledo, and Ohio spending on the sport.
