Good thing akron played that dynamite MAC schedule to prepare you for this game. But in all honesty you had the opportunities to make this a game, but couldn’t stop FAU on 4th down. And you played way to conservative

What kind of inferiority complex must a fanbase have to have to come on the Akron board and tell us how much better your team is. There's a reason FAU is a 22 point favorite. It would be a surprise to most of the nation if we win. We'll see on Tuesday. Go Zips.
There isn’t an inferiority complex. I’m just making a counter point to his point.

Truth. Maybe he should look at how we have played against the spread, all year. Any team can look great if they player lesser talent all year. I think half of the MAC could beat North Texas.
Lol whats your point that half the MAC could beat UNT? FAU did twice and outscored them by 68 points. UNT was in the weaker half of C-USA and won few one score games with Rice and UTEP being in their division. Ultimately Akron only beat one team with a winning record. So you keep telling me FAU has beaten anyone, but who have you really beaten?
Point differential does matter when its:
FAU +203
Akron -35
It says a lot how good your team really is
It is also tough to get by the fact were one of the best rushing teams in the country, and your one of the worst.
Like I keep saying if you upset FAU I will be the first to congratulate you on here.

Lol well it’s a huge difference. And I still don’t view our schedules all that much different.
i guess agree to disagree

I mean fair argument, but FAU has a a few more wins and the conference championship. The point differential stands out between the two teams when I just look at the matchup.
Fellow Conference USA team fans doubted us all year leading up to matchups, and I think that’s why FAU fans maybe are a little defensive.
If Akron beats FAU I will be the first fan to come on here and let y’all tell me you were right.

Lol, whatever. FAU isn't as great as they think they are. Easy to claim all your nationally ranked this and that when you are playing.....nobody.
But who did you beat? At least we won all our games handily. Maybe we aren’t that great, but you play who is on your schedule.
Look akron should have all the motivation in the world because no one is giving you a shot. I really do hope it’s a great game, and everyone from Akron coming down has a great time in the area.

Troy has 5 sacks, 2 interceptions, and recovered 3 fumbles. So much for that FAU killer D.
FAU had 9 sacks vs North Texas in the c-USA championship game. Troy pretty much did what we did to North Texas twice. But yeah we don’t have super great wins, but we did on average win our conference games by 3 tds. We were up 69-17 in the 3rd quarter vs North Texas in the first matchup. Only close game was Marshall and we were up 2 tds with 5 mins to go.
Maybe Akron puts up a great game. You never know in bowl games.

FAU’s vulnerable defense? Akron averages more yards and points given up on the year than FAU. While Akron does have a very good turnover margin, FAU still ranks better in that.

Doubtful you got all 15 in, the most any team could squeeze in would probably be 10. There was only 15 days between the day the game was announced and gameday. Kiffin did hold a couple practices before Thursday, but it wasn’t gameplan practices toward Akron.
Because of finals it was tough for the team to squeeze any more practices in, and like the one poster above said it was also used to let the team get it’s legs back. Kiffin utilizes a little different practice schedule the team actually does it walk thru practice two days before game, and not typical day before. Then day before does a very uptempo practice.
They also used used the last two weeks for very heavy recruiting. Most of the coaching staff has been on the road to get ready for early signing day. Since the bowl game is actually a de facto home game they are utilizing this weekend for official visits on campus.
Hopefully this isn’t called “apologetic” just thought I would shed some light on everything.

You know, FAU seems incapable to cheer in their team without insulting our team. I can't wait until UG5 introduces himself to your RB.
Was he an AP all American too? Lol and you have the 90th ranked run defense in the country. Guys it’s just fun jabbing back and forth. What’s the fun in taking everything so serious?
-
Yeah we were too. I don't think the team was very motivated with the championship game the next week., and many of the second teamers played the second half.
I think referring to a game that was played in the 2016 season is a little bit of stretch as a common opponent with Marshall. FAU was up by 2 TD's late in the 4th quarter and really was the only game we struggled finishing off all year.
I think much of the reactions your seeing from FAU fans is the disappoint of not getting the matchup against USF or FSU which was predicted by most outlets.

Did you pat yourself on the back after posting this? No buddy cares for these "fun-facts" because you're basically painting the picture that Akron-Sucks, FAU-is-Awesome, with some apologetics mixed in...on a Zips Forum. Cool. Seriously who cares about any of these stats other than FAU fans?
Nope. Just pointing out some things. Seems like some fans are underestimating FAU. As I am probably under estimating Akron.
And yeah FAU has been dreadful for many years, but prior to Kiffin arriving the previous coach was bringing in top recruiting classes in the conference with Kiffin doing the same last year. The talent has been in place. Our previous coach was just a terrible game day coach.

Just some fun stats
FAU point differential +203
Akron Point Differential - 35
FAU Conference Point Differential +177
Akron Conference Point Differential +17
S&P Computer ranking's (unbiased computers)
FAU - 12
Akron - 110
Toledo - 16
On paper, according to Vegas, and computers call this game a mismatch. But we will find out.
FAU's offense has found much more balance of the second half of the year, and does not have the passing attack Toledo has. But we do have an AP All American Running back, 3 first team All - C-USA Offensive Lineman.
We have one of the best Group of 5 Coaching staffs as well.
If you want to bring up the Buffalo game:
- First week of a QB switch
- Missing our All Conference first team LB to injury
- Our Best WR was suspended.
- The team frankly has gotten significantly better since week 4

If you stop us we won’t score. And all I heard for two weeks was how we didn’t play anyone like you did on your schedule.
