Hey! There's a game tomorrow! Unfortunately it overlaps with the men's basketball game against Heidelberg. But, it is on CBS Sports so we should all be home from basketball in time to see the end of the 1st quarter 😉

Zips are +5.5. Kick is at 7:00pm EST.

This guy has been blogging EMU football for a long time. He writes some good stuff. Here are his QB power rankings after last week, they may surprise you a bit: https://www.ypsi11.com/p/maction-qbs-finn-undercuffler

If the Zips can go back to playing turnover-free football, they should be in this one until the end. EMU's offense has struggled mightily for most of the year. They didn't record a first down against Kent a few weeks ago until some time in the 2nd quarter.

Hopefully Lingard is back. I think he will be. As for the passing game, who the hell knows.

    Go Zips!

EMU is towards the bottom in total defense so my hope is that U can maybe put together a decent game and if Lingard is there all the better. Just seems like so many of U’s turnovers aren’t necessarily because of bad throws but a combination of sack fumbles and being immediately pressured. If we can protect him a bit maybe we have a chance.

  2. The defense played very well all things considered as they only gave up 236 total yards. It was a shame that our offense returned to its poor form right on cue and gave them so little help. It was a shame too because they had some good drives but came away with nothing to show for them.

I did not attend even tho' I am a season ticket holder. I was so mad at this team for destroying (so I thought) my love for Zip football. Living two hours away I watched with hope, then dread, then more hope, then pure elation. This team, that I was disgusted with, brought me back. Winning the "Wheel" is huge. For us now, it is everything. Don't believe the rivalry is dead and no one cares. There was even a segment on our victory tonight on TV in Columbus. This is our "Wheel" and we are not going to give it back for a long time.

Thank you to the boys for believing when I had lost the faith. Thanks to Joe and staff. Joe is still the guy to fix it and he will.

For my part, this is a memory that I will really cherish for this season. It had a lot of elements that make for a great MAC game. Wednesday night. In the snow and cold. Two teams struggling. It really attracted only the most die hard fans among us. And I don’t care if you watched it live, on TV or read about it the next day in the paper and cheered, we are all together in cheering this team on. I love it and it was all the better that it was a fourth quarter come from behind victory.

I’m not going to sit here and tell anyone that it was a win that will turn this season around. It may or may not. But I just really enjoyed living in the moment and sticking it out until the end no matter how dang frustrating it was.

And I can’t imagine what it’s been like for all the Zips fans that have been suffering on this board for way longer than me! Hope they all took some joy from this game!

Really don't know how Gathings didn't get flagged over and over. After he baited the Kent player into throwing the ball at him, Gathings went to Joe on the side and said give it to me again. He was motioning that he was in his head. They didn't show it on tv but when he lined up he was waving come get me to the defender and missed the snap of the ball. Undercuffler threw it to his spot but because he was late off the ball he didn't make it there. Also after he scored, the coaches got on him for taunting again. He threw the tire off when they put it on him and started yelling while sitting on the bench. I don't know what got into him but he was on the verge of being a psychotic all game.

I'm not going to defend a lot of what he did but I certainly understand the well of emotion that it probably stemmed from. This season has been frustrating enough for the fans, I can't imagine what it's like for those players. And the first real win we get is in a rivalry game, so he was probably exorcising some demons out there. At the same time, you can't do some of those things consistently because you're going to get burned, and when our margin for error is so slim, any penalty/mental mistake is instantly magnified.

  5. Apart from a very good last drive and some very good offense in the fourth quarter, it was really our defense that stood out to me. They looked pitiful early on in the game handling the option, tackling, and just operating in space in general. Kent's guys were running wide open and all over the place. But in the fourth we were disciplined, tackled well, and got after the QB on the true throwing downs. It was like watching a different team to be honest (at least compared to the first half).
