  1. Getting outrebounded 33-18 is sad but only getting ONE fricking offensive rebounding is a travesty. For all of the improvement that Futch and Travis had show in the first 17 games they took a massive crapp on themselves today. The technical foul reflects imaturity and I hope that the staff will point that out to RT by not starting him against BG. Horace, Mason and Hatcher scored 53 points to Akron's team 63 - the guards should be ashamed. Easily the worst performance of the past month. Got to get back to winning this Thursday or the past 3 weeks will have been nothing but a waste.
  2. 11 point loss on the road.... seems like few if any Zip teams win at Miami. Hopefully this will be a one game setback and Thursday can be a rebound game against BG.
  3. Old #3 will be playing indoor football in Canton this season. Wish native son Bobby Hendry would have been selected as he would be a great indoor player. Hopefully more Akron players will be a part of this franchise.
  4. Confidence does wonders, see Akron men for proof.
  5. Akron women have now won 3 of the last 4, beating WMU today on the road. The Broncos won the title two years ago and Miami WAS the top team in the East. All the team needed was some confidence.
  6. Why would it be a good idea to build something with the City? Seems to me all that would do is cut down on the Akron U feel to the arena and take the building off-campus. That is already a problem with the Rubber Bowl - why make the same mistake twice.
  7. Regardless of what a message board mod writes this kid is not coming to Akron, period.
  8. If winning football games means recruiting criminals then we should just drop the sport.
  9. Two comments... Antwan Smith transferred from Can't State - this is a big hit. However the JUCO QB they picked up forced Smith's hand and the JUCO is better than any other QB coming to the MAC East. Can't State has their entire defense back and a great JUCO QB. Akron loses Frye, the major players from last year's defense , and all of the offensive front. Akron will be lucky to win 5 games this season. 2006 should be the year that the Zips contend for a title.
  10. Cap't... call UAM - he will get you the ball.
  11. Game is not postponed - will be played at 7 p.m. Akron also plays on Tuesday at home against Ball State so both teams are not off until Wednesday.
  12. No where has anything been written about the lack of any prospect for next season being over 6-8 and 2oo pounds... why? Big men can make the difference in the MAC. All Akron has recruited for next season are 2-3- and very small project 4 players. No where can you find a true center or even a big, bulky 4 player.
  13. There is no excuse for this much losing. The powers that be should clean house and start new all over again.
  14. Just found this board, by accident. You should really promote it more MODS. Regardless, I was at the EMU game and am not as impressed by Akron as some of you. I am not an alum, but did play basketball at a local D-II school many years back. I love basketball and watch all types as much as possible. This Akron team is better than lsat year's team but is still very inconsistent. In time they may be pretty good though so I will continue to come back. My biggest concern of this team is how they only play well at home. This team has won 9 games, but only 2 on the road. Unless they can learn to win on the road they will not get over the hump this season. This team has also played no one on the non MAC schedule, which leads me to believe that this team is being coddled by their coach. I would do the same thing but that has got to have an effect on the crowds. I listened to the postgame show on the radio after the game on Saturday night and Coach Dambrot said it best, even he would not come out to see his team play the way they showed up the last 10 minutes. As soon as this team figures out that the game lasts 40 minutes and not 30 minutes more fans will come. A win on the road to run a 3-game streak would also be a nice touch.
