Women's soccer vs. Morehead State
2zip2 replied to soccerbirdie16's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Had nothing to do with 8 days off. Coach is doing a good job but just because he finally gets his 1st recruiting class in at Akron doesn't mean they need to take over the stat sheet. Going to be a long season if that keeps up. Just an opinion. -
Team picked to finish in second place in the East Division.

Is there one for the womens team? -
I'm not sure how you can call Cornell "relatively unathletic" with only 4 losses (SU,Kansas,Seton Hall, and Penn). With wins against Alabama,St.Johns,Temple and now Wisconsin I would take this team anyday. Don't get this wrong I root for the Zips, but to have an unathletic team in the sweet 16 or a 1st round loss in the CBI relatively unathletic wins out.

Men's Soccer vs. Cleveland State 3/7/10

Womens team tied 2-2. It was nice to see this team not quit after being down 2 goals at halftime. First goal was scored by the transfer from YSU Kara Cooper 2nd not to sure I think someone said Haney. -
FYI- The Womens team plays after the mens game.It would be great to get some people there to roooot both these teams on.

NEW YORK QB CLOSING IN ON OFFERSpost this:http://nychoops.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1051055At 6-3, 225 pounds, Rush (NY) Rush quarterback Ashton Broyld sounds like he has the ideal size for a pro-style quarterback, but the Empire State product proved in his junior season that he is much more than that.Ashton Broyld has one offer and is looking for more.He completed 72 percent of his passes in 2009, throwing for 1,400 yards and running for another 900 on his way to third-team all-state honors and the Class AA Player of the Year. Akron has given him an official offer, and it sounds like a few others are close."I've been getting a lot of mail from Syracuse, Rutgers, Pitt and Maryland," Broyld told PantherLair.com. "Michigan, Virginia, Georgia, LSU, Nebraska, and that's about it. Syracuse is close (to offering). I thought Rutgers was close too. I think they are."Pitt also may be a school that is close to offering, and Broyld will be making the trek to Pittsburgh next weekend for the Panthers' Junior Day. "I've talked to them a couple times," Broyld said. "I get a lot of mail from them. I'm going to make it to Pitt on the 21st (of February)."Broyld - who played at John Marshall High School in New York before moving to Rush Henrietta - is hoping a Pitt offer may be in the works. "I wouldn't be surprised one bit (if Pitt offered)," Broyld said. "When I was at (John Marshall), we went to a camp there, and my coach thought they were going to (verbally) offer me on the spot."Now Broyld feels the Panthers are even more interested than they were before."I think what (Pitt) was saying at first was that they were thinking about a different position," Broyld said. "Since they got my film, they started liking me at quarterback. I like Pitt. I really don't know (about an offer). It's a question mark."Broyld also may go to junior days at Syracuse and Rutgers. This is all taking place in the middle of basketball season, where he is averaging a double-double as a point guard and a center."I have a lot of good help, and a good supporting cast," Broyld said of how he manages his time. "People remind me of certain things. I stay focused. It's difficult, but I do it.

And I thought this was about the womens recruiting class. -
Heard that the MAC conference has been divided into 2 divisions (east and west). Congratulations Lady Zips!!

Was that the game where they stopped play a minute after we scored and took away the Akron goal with no explanation? Or was that Ball State?yes the refs gave us a freekick, we scored, then said that it was the wrong call after it happened.Total bs
-
Heather Rains will be the player that they will really miss. She was the captain and leader of the defense for this team.

This is so typical of MAC sports: CMU has one of the best records in the entire nation, and they don't even get in "Others receiving votes" in the national poll. Their only OOC opponents of significance are three Big-11 teams, and they lost all three! So, maybe they don't deserve much -- but NOT a single VOTE??? Who cares about CMU...Akron had them beat with the worst call in soccer history.

Great win for the Lady Zips!!! Just a couple of things from someone who goes to the games. Senior day was October 18th against Ball State and Petrole put the ball in the net off the cornerkick. Wise never touched it. Give credit where credit is do. Just giving facts not looking to cause any problems. GoZIPS!!!Sorry. I always assumed that Senior Night was the last regular season home game, for all sports.Senior day is always the last Sunday of the last home weekend. Do you go to alot of games? We need all fans we can get for Sunday.
