    Following through all of the games, here's what I have for seeds:
    1. Bowling Green 11-5 - MAC-E Champion (2-0 against Buffalo)
    2. Central Michigan 7-9 - MAC-W Champion (2-0 against Western Michigan, 1-1 against Ball St.)
    3. Buffalo 11-5
    4. Miami (OH) 10-6 - 1-1 against Akron, 2-0 against Can't State
    5. Akron 10-6 - Went down to the 4th seed; Can't went 0-2 against Miami, Akron went 1-1.
    6. Can't State 10-6
    7. Ball State 7-9 - Went 1-1 against 2nd seed Central Michigan
    8. Western Michigan 7-9 - Def. Ohio
    9. Ohio 7-9
    10. Eastern Michigan 6-10 - Not dead last!
    11. Toledo 5-11 - Split their series against Central Michigan
    12. Northern Illinois 5-11

    If thats correct, I would think that the Zips half of the bracket would be the Thursday evening sessions - All Ohio teams could be playing - BG, OU, Miami and Akron, whereas the other half could be mostly out of state teams - Central, Ball, Buffalo and then Can't. Better chance of a walk up crowd b/c of BG, Miami & OU alumun in the Clev/Akron area then the other bracket.

    And what's up with 12k attendance......pathetic. What positives can a zip fan take away from this game?
    out of the 12k it seemed like 11k were Can't fans. It was pretty much a Can't home game
    I beg to differ, I would say it was 60-40 akron fans...their fans were just noticeably louder because their fans cheer, not just the student section. plus the akron fans all left towards the end, but when everyone was there it was at least 55-45 akron, maybe more, imo.
    Zippy 5 - I am assuming that you were at the Q, as was I. Your assessment of 60/40 is about as far off as a J Wood free throw. It was prob 75/20% in favor of Can't.

    I just hate Can't!I hate their gay yellow tshirts that they'll have on tonight!I hate the fact that they have NO Ohio guys starting for them (while Akron has 4 + Ced)!I hate Jim Christian. Someone tell him to go easy on the hair gel, and if he's going to wear a button down and a tie, to button your shirt the whole way up!I hate the fact that a starter, Chris Singletary, gets a DUI, is well over the limit (0.13 BAC) and is out ONE game. Nice discipline Jim Boy!I hate Q's pig tails!I hate the fact that they claim to be a party town, yet have no dance clubs that are worth a crap!I hate the fact that Jim Boy uses JUCO transfers to be successful, and doesnt use guys for 4 years to develope into a great player (see Cedric, Romeo, Dru...I could go on and on).I hate Bill Needle!That's about it. I am off to shovel dog poop now that the snow has melted. I'm sure I'll think of some more grumblings. Would it be wrong to bring a bag of dog poop and hurl that at their bench?PS - I do like that they us Browns fans Josh Cribbs, and us comedy fans Drew Carey. But other than that, I HATE Can't!!!

    I agree that it is going to be a tough one, but I was thinking this - Central Mich may have been the best opponent for us to prepare for the WMU game tonight. They are small, and forced our guards to play outstanding, and we did. Ced, Nick and D Roberts (who I defended after the Can't game, by the way...haha) all played awesome. Central is not a big team, so we used J Wood and the McKnights inside, which is what we are going to need tonight - an inside presence and answer, and some great back court play.Think about it this way - They will prob win in the front court scoring, so by Nick, Ced and D Roberts getting some confidence from last night, we should exceed the point differential that we lost inside. What I'm saying is that they should hold the front court edge, but not by much. We should hold the back court edge, and the difference.

  11. NITology has Akron playing in the CBI Tournament

    Accordingly to NITology, they have Akron playing in the newly created CBI tournament, which is the same organization that runs the Coaches vs Cancer tournament, along with the tournament in Alaska that the Zips played in. Frenchie was talking about it during the post game show, and it sounds equal to the NIT, but with all the games being played at the schools, and none at a neutral place (like Madison Sq Garden and the NIT). The finals, though, is a cool thing. It is a 3 game series, with the schools hosting each game (ie-home, away, home-if 3rd game needed). Home games throughout the entire tournament is based on average home attendence.Right now, they have Akron as a #2 seed playing in the Midwest Region, against Utah, and the other pair is Missouri and Boise St.Ohio is the only other MAC team in the CBI, as a #3 seed in the East Region, against Wright St, and the other pair is Seton Hall and Valpo.Again, these are only projections, along neither of the 3 tournaments have Western anyway.Thoughts - If Akron doeesnt win the MAC tournament, which would you rather play in - The NIT or this new, possible up and coming tournament/possible flop of a tournament, CBI?

    Guys...I still believe our chances in the championship game are much better if we play Miami. And they would be playing their 4th game in 4 days.
    That is why I dont think that Miami is going to get past Can't tonight. Third game in 3 days. I expect that Can't will try to force an uptempo game, and wear them down. They are only 6-7 guys deep, too.

    Thanks. I just wanted to make sure that was correct.It appears is if it's a huge advantage to play the early game on Friday, and have more rest before your Saturday championship game.I think that made the difference last year. We played a draining game against Can't that lasted until almost midnight, then had to play our 3rd game of the tournament the very next night at 7pm. On the other hand, Miami was resting on Friday night and watching our game.
    Whoever plays the afternoon session in the quarterfinals, plays the earlier game on Friday night. Its tough luck that the late game Friday night has to come back and play like 19 hours later. Yet another small piece that could help Akron?

Do we root for Bubba? Stay tuned....

  23. Buffalo-Miami Upset Alert?!?!

    Looks like this could end up being the first big upset of the tourney so far. Anyone have any insight as to what is going on up there? I have to believe Miami is probably just running into a buzzsaw with Buffalo hitting a lot of tough shots. Miami is never going to score a lot of points themselves, but they also don't give up a lot of points. If they are losing like this you have to assume that Buffalo is just hitting a lot of shots. I could be wrong though.
