I’m actually on the same page with most of this and have expressed similar thoughts myself. One program I think might make sense to keep at both schools however is nursing, given the existing shortages in the field. That issue is only likely to grow as the boomer generation continues to age, requiring more healthcare, while they will also be also leaving the workforce.

It would be more the engineering, business, liberal arts, etc that I think would make the most sense to divide. Allow each school to plow as much resources into what they're best at. This way we can offer a higher quality education in our region. There will still be plenty of competition as we will be competing with other states and private campuses.

Nursing remains the greatest need in the professional careers. That’s certainly true in NE Ohio and facilities want BSN’s.

A lot of experienced nurses are taking their BSN’s and going into management. Or becoming nurse practitioners. That leaves holes in direct patient care.

  2. A few years ago, I brought up the Rubber Ducks, who play less than a mile away (a 20 minute walk) from campus.

If you haven’t been to a minor league game, they keep fans entertained. Games, prizes, T shirt launchers, stuff for the kids (get ‘em interested early). There’s games and videos on the Jumbotron when there’s a lull. It’s often silly but in engages fans.

There are simple ways to engage the fans that doesn’t cost a whole lot.

Collegiate athletics is just a marketing arm for the University. Them turning a profit isn't a necessity, but with all marketing plans you have to evaluate whether the reach it provides is worth the dollars that you're spending.

Little to no good has come from football in the past 15-20 years. In fact, the negatives have only tarnished perceptions of the university. Something likely needs to done. Ideally, it would be great if the MAC as a whole decided they can no longer keep up and decided to drop down to FCS, preferably non-scholaship FCS. Trying to keep up with the Jones's, even at the G5 level, has grown prohibitively expensive.

You better watch. I brought this up maybe 10 years ago and found a burning cross in my front yard.

JT Brubaker hadn't thrown in a game in 3 years and just threw 2 shutout innings to complete the win for the Yankees. No matter what happens, he can say he came back and threw on a major league mound. Really cool man. That's why baseball is the best.

  5. Update on J.T.

    AI Overview

    +2

J.T. Brubaker has been activated by the New York Yankees and is set to make his team debut after recovering from a rib injury and Tommy John surgery. He was previously on the 60-day injured list but has been cleared for the team. The Yankees will initially use him in long relief, despite him building up as a starter during his rehab assignment.

    Here's a more detailed breakdown:

    Reinstated from Injured List:

Brubaker was activated from the 60-day injured list on June 18th.

    Long Relief Role:

Although he was stretched out as a starter during his rehab, the Yankees plan to use him in long relief initially, potentially as a multi-inning option.

    Long Road to Recovery:

Brubaker has been recovering from both Tommy John surgery and a rib fracture he sustained during spring training.

    Yankees Debut:

This will be his first appearance for the Yankees since being acquired from the Pirates in March 2024.

  7. Sorry for the short notice but Chris is starting against the Guardians tonight.

I hope I have whatever channel it’s on tonight, in the alphabet soup of regional $port$ channel$.

Update the Guardians have their own cable channel, and do not charge for using it. That’s something you don’t see anymore.
