It didn't take long after the season ended. He had one year left on his contract and had a record of 84-99. This probably would have happened last year had the Cardinals wanted to stomach the money. Great guy, but struggled to get the wins. http://themacdaily.com/cardinals-part-ways...h-billy-taylor/

After another good week, Akron is still No. 1. The Buffalo game was a little scary, but it shows the greatness of MAC basketball. Any team can win if things are going the right way. The Zips did a great job of rallying and staying perfect in the MAC. http://themacdaily.com/two-teams-vie-for-t...power-rankings/

Are all about the Zips! Akron and Ohio are probably the only two legit contenders right now for the MAC title, and Akron has to get the nod. UA has the depth, the talent and the experience. Plus, that win down the road was an epic performance of how a great team vanquishes good foes. The sad thing to me is that after just 4 games, you can basically wipe away the rest of the conference... http://themacdaily.com/zips-bobcats-look-l...arly-favorites/

After the two years he's had in Can't, it's not a surprise at all that Hazell is leaving for a BCS team. The official announcement will come at 10 a.m., but the Flashes are right back where they started two years ago. The great news IMHO for Akron is that Bowden is every bit as good as Hazell. With a little time, he's going to get UA back to Detroit. http://themacdaily.com/hazell-accepts-purdue-job/

On paper, Miami looks like the more talented team today. But the Zips have been playing much better football this year. Akron should come out today and surprise the RedHawks, getting to 1-0 in the MA. http://themacdaily.com/breaking-down-saturdays-mac-buffet/

Ohio is still on top, but there was a lot of movement behind the Bobcats. Northern Illinois jumped Toledo and Ball State almost did after both teams beat BCS teams. The real problem was at the bottom of the table. How much movement do CMU, Akron and EMU deserve? In the end, the Chippewas moved up to No. 10 after a good finish. http://themacdaily.com/ohio-welcomes-all-challengers/

Akron was a pretty good team last week, and IMHO, the Zips should have won. Bowden will get his first win at UA today, in a thrashing of Morgan State. http://themacdaily.com/gazing-into-week-3/

Other than the game I was at (EMU vs Illinois State), it was a pretty good week for the MAC. The league went 7-6, and had three FBS wins. Plus, Ohio is a legitimate threat for the Top 25. Here are five thoughts from yesterday's MACtion. http://themacdaily.com/mac-teams-continue-growth/

TMD's opening night MAC predictions are out. We've got Akron falling to Central Florida, 31-14. Bowden will turn this team around, but it's going to be a tough opener against the Knights. http://themacdaily.com/opening-night-predictions/

Evan Meyer spent several days last week watching Can't State practice and chatting with the team. The Golden Flashes have had quite the battle at QB and are still struggling to find consistency with their running game. It should be another good Wagon Wheel game this season! http://themacdaily.com/Can't-state-takes-the-next-step/

Akron's not going to be wowing the nation, but this is better than a one-win team. 3-9 seems realistic, and if things go well, 5-7 next year.
-
Hot off the imaginary presses! Evan Meyer breaks down every angle of the upcoming Zips season and sees the building blocks of improvement. Bowden is doing everything right to turn this program around and give UA a team it can be proud of! http://themacdaily.com/?p=1112

As TMD continues to rev up for the season, we wanted to put out our bold predictions. You can mark me down as saying that Akron will get at least four wins (and maybe even five) this year and will finish the season with a bit of momentum. I'd call that a good step in the right direction. http://themacdaily.com/?p=1058

Akron starts the year 12th. But, I don't think that anyone has done more to improve itself than the Zips this year. Akron has a vision and a goal. In two years, this team could be in a bowl game. http://themacdaily.com/?p=1027

To me, with the current format, it spells disaster to any non-BCS team. Would a Boise State or TCU have ever made these playoffs? I can't imagine so. With four teams going, it's going to be two SEC teams, one Big Ten or PAC 12 team and one Big 12 team, year in and year out. The whole thing seems like the worst money grab and moves the MAC into second tier in its own division. http://themacdaily.com/?p=978

Former Zip Wagner walks away from Arizona, football

That's tough to see. He was a great player at Akron and could have been an impact player for the Wildcats. -
Danny White is taking over in Buffalo. He's just 32, but has already worked at two MAC schools (Ohio and Northern Illinois). He's certainly done a lot in a short amount of time, but I worry that with all of his moves, is he interested in staying at Buffalo long enough to make a difference? http://themacdaily.com/?p=833

This was probably the most obvious move in the MAC. He only won 75 games in six years and his son was by far his best recruit. Great guy, but he struggled to bring in talent. http://themacdaily.com/?p=650

OK, the Owls may not be gone yet, but with the Big East, it seems like only a matter of time. So, with almost a decade in the MAC, here are some ramblings about what the future may hold for Temple and the MAC and how they'll be remembered. A lot of the "bandwagon" fans made too much noise, but the school itself has always been a joy to work with and the true fans have been great. http://themacdaily.com/?p=607

Akron wrapped up its game against the MAC West a perfect 6-0 (along with Buffalo and Can't State). After watching these crossover games, I'll admit that ALL the top teams are in the East, but right now, UA looks like the best of the bunch. It should be a fun ride to the finish. http://themacdaily.com/?p=535

Here is a list of names that TMD has been able to verify are committed to different MAC schools in the past 24 hours. Temple may have done the best, but it's a long time before we'll have a definitive answer. http://themacdaily.com/?p=432

Coles is one of the most passionate coaches in the NCAA and respected across the MAC. But this team has had a bad slide the past few years. Personally, I think that he'll hang on through this season, but he can't afford another year like this.
-
Akron is on top this week. There is no doubt that the Zips are the No. 1 team in the league. I waited a few extra days to post these as well because I wanted a larger body of work to judge the crossover season by. The short answer is that the top for spots are all in one division. http://themacdaily.com/?p=404

When we're wrong, I'll gladly admit it. Last week's power rankings were wrong. Akron will be No. 1 when they come out on Friday and the East should have spots 1 through 5. Last night was a demonstration of where the talent lies in this conference.
