Fleming wasn't only offered by Hawaii. In fact, he had offers from Utah and Boise State (yes, the BCS bound Boise State), as well as major interest from Michigan State. He apparently was ready to sign with Boise St. during the in-home visit with the urging from his parents (including Coach Fleming I assume) to go away for college. Instead though, he went with his heart, which led to Akron. This was all in an ABJ article a while back I believe. He needed surgery early in camp his freshman year, so he opted to greyshirt that year, and therefor played this year as a true freshman. He still has both his redshirt and medical redshirt, so transferring isn't completely out of the equation. Only time will tell what he is going to do.The one thing I do know is that, as a Freshman, he played his a** off this whole year, stepping up in lieu of injuries to other players. He's a great player, and Akron would sure miss out on him if he transfers.
