  1. There are 14 JC teams in Mississippi divided into 2 divisions, they play a 9 game regular season. Top 2 teams in each division(4 team total) meet in a playoff system. Winner is Mississippi JC football champion. Mississippi JC Champion is one of the teams in the Mississippi Bowl which is one of about 8 or 9 JC Football Bowl games.
  2. Story on Moore. Looks to be a nice possibility. Originally committed to Ole Miss...getting an SEC "cast off" would certainly not be a bad thing! I like the possibilities of this QB situation: SR Rodgers JR Nicely and Moore SO Potts (if not moved to S) FR Pohl and D'Orazio (if not moved to S) Figure 1 guy with 1 year of eligibity, 2 guys with 2 years and, most likely, 2 guys being redshirted in Pohl and D'Orazio. I just hope that Moore would be given a chance to compete for the starting position. Moore would be a RS SO in 2011 2009 Ole Miss RS 2010 Miss Gulf Coast RS Freshman
  3. I have been visiting this site for about 2 weeks and I can agree with the above statements from the post I have read over just a few weeks. What do you want a PR coach or a football coach? If what is important to you is that the coach is a good guy and everyone likes him, even the students and members of the community...... What has your coach done to distain the community? I would hope that you would want a football program that other teams fear. A football team that is listed by everyone as the team you have to beat if you want to have any chance of winning the MAC. A football coaches #1 priority is to win football games. From what Zip football history I have located, you have fielded a football team every year, might have won a few games, but that is all. Therefore, the Zip Nation has no idea what a winning football program looks like. You want the local community to get excited about Zip Fooball. WIN You want the student body to get excited. WIN The best investment that a football coach can make for his University and community is, you got it "WIN BABY WIN" The only one that a football coach has to run a PR program with is his football players. And what is that sales job. Getting the players to buy in to the believe that they can win each and every week no matter who the other team is.
  4. Just because a football team is I-AA does not mean they are not a good football team and have subpar players. They just have less players on a scholly. The difference in the OL & DL players being I-AA is usually only 1 or 2 inches in height. They do not fit the idea size that most D1 football want for players. The biggest difference is in team depth. Akron is by no means the only team loss a football to a I-AA team. Just look at JaxSt/Ole Miss to name another just this year.
  5. Good press conference. From and outsider's looking in point of view, sounds to me like your HC is plain spoken and tell's it like it is. Just as and example. Margin for error is not very large. Have to believe they can win. Getting good enough to win. Have to improve. Have to play much better. Difference between winning & losing. As far as local press coverage of you team. It is all about the all mighty dollar. The press be it newsprint, TV, or radio is only going to cover what pays the bills. Just because you want them to cover you more is not enough. You have to show them the dollar because no one else will. I can tell you that your record has nothing to do with the amount of press cover you get, it is all about the dollar. I live in Alabama. UAB's program gets the same treatment and they have no pro sports teams to compete will except for minor league baseball. The local coverage is all Aub/Ala with UAB being and after thought. It has nothing to do with who the HC is or who the AD is, it is all about the dollar.
  6. I am new to this site. I also know very little about the Zips football program. I am just a fan of college football. Either you have hired the right man as head football coach or you have hired the wrong man. I do know that sometimes a new head coach has to clean house to be able to reach the goal that is set for the program. The question to ask is the head coach running off players to open up spots on the roster or is he running off the dead wood. I would expect that your head coach has a plan for building a winning football program if he does not have his head up his backside. I would expect that each one of yours players has been informed of what is expected of them to be a member of the football team. I also expect that each player that is doing what is expected of them by the coaching staff is still on the team. The one's that are not doing what is expected of them,so what if they have left the team. From another thread I read where the team played hard the last game even though they lose the game. Well I can tell you that any team will not win very many games if they do not play hard all the time. Are the player left on the team buying in to the coach's system.
