Good point. I watched some of this game on CBS College Sports. Kelly Pagel (former Brown QB Mike Pagel's son) is now the QB at UMass after transferring from BG. UMass held on to win 24-16, but they were not particularly impressive. The CAA might be down a little this year based on early results.
In other MAC game updates, the 58-22 score held up in the UT win over UNH. BG eventually defeated Idaho on the road 32-15.
Figured I'd throw my two cents in as a MAC blogger, but also a UMass alum and fan -- absolutely terrified after the results last night. Jonathan Hernandez is running strong, but the offense just got bogged down and Holy Cross isn't that intimidating. I think it's possible that UMass took the game lightly, but also Holy Cross scored with 51 seconds to go in the game so the final score wasn't totally indicative of the outcome. Still, not a confidence booster, especially with how UNH was throttled by Toledo last night.
