Thank you all for your replies it is extremely helpful to see it from a lot of different view points. I am asking about all sports in general not jsut the "main" sports (football, basketball, and soccer). I would really like to hear from non-student fans and see if student attendance has ever effected their attendance (ex. make you leave early/ make you not want to come at all).

I am a student at the university, and I am doing a speech on student attendance at athletic events. I was wondering what you thought about the following questions. Do you think that student attendance is low? What do you think is the cause of low student attendance? Does student attendance effect your attendance? Please feel free to tell me any of your thoughts or feelings about this topic. Thank you for your time in advance!
