3 years ago, akron was picked 6th to finish in the east but went 19-10. KD did not win the award which was given to Charlie Cole (I think Miami was picked to win the conference that year). Clearly, KD should have won the award. KD is definitely due this honor given what he has done for the program in the last 3 years. I think the committee needs to look at the strength of both divisions. Clearly, the teams in the east are constantly battling for the next 3 byes. Toledo is good but what would their record have been if they were in the east? Their two losses were to Can't and Ohio.

I totally disagree w/the coach of the year prediction. Joplin has done a good job w/his team but the west was not as strong as the east. If Miami, Akron, Can't, or Ohio was on the west, I believe they would possess the same record as Toledo. There are four teams in the east currently battling for the #2, #3, #4 seeds. In my opinion, I think Jim Christian deserves the honors because his young team is playing good basketball and could very well win the MAC.

Expectations for the football team was big because they were defending a title with return players. Basketball did not win a title last year, I don't believe the expectations are the same. Two different scenarios!

It's amazing how people do not do there research. UALR is picked #1 to win their conference!!! A conference that has western kentucky (who is very good).

Please help me to understand how a coach with a akron career record of 17-15 (currently) and possible (17-18 if we do not win out) would be a hot candidate for another football program? Are you guys suggestioning another head coach position or an assistant at a top program?

First,Everyone needs to stop comparing the bball team to the football team. The football team had higher expectations than the bball team because they won a mac title. The bbal team got a post-season berth but the football team got alot more exposure than the bball team (brookhart leaving, getsy top 10 QB, etc). Personally, this team has a good chance. In terms of size, of course you are going to have smaller players, we are a mid-major program but this team has depth and I think they will have success. There was too much hype around the football program. I don't see this with the bball team. We are trying to get a MAC title..not defend one (there is a difference).

I think the team has a good chance of winning the MAC but I would not take any team lightly in the conference. Hopefully the team remains focus and healthy. Unlike football, the team is not defending any title; in fact, I think the team will compete given their loss at last years semi-final game (a game we should have won). I think zip fans will enjoy a good basketball team this year.

Conyers had an ankle injury and did not play much. However, the kid is really athletic.

We played Robert Morris from PA. Projected to win their conference in the Northeast Conference. From what I heard, we outplayed them. Good performances from Cedric Middleton, Dials, Quade Milum, and Bardo (which is extremely good). I can't wait for the season to start.
