Mr. Roo
I heard that he impressed the coaches last spring during their spring training. He seemed to perform pretty well for someone who is "new" to the sport. Rumor has it that during the spring he was second string defensive end behind Almondo Sewell and replaced Shawn Lemon but now is a fourth string nose behind Ryan Bain and other redshirt freshman and the coaches don't think that he is "athletic" enough to play defense so he may play O- line next season. He seemed pretty athletic in the spring and a kid who can run sprint events like the 200 meters and 110 hurdles in track and run a 4.6 forty at 250 lbs. seems pretty athletic to me.Anyone have any thoughts? johnnyzip84
I've never seen the guy play, but he has been a player who has intrigued me (based on stats alone AND being a relative newcomer to football) since he was signed. I was hoping for big things out of him (eventually) at DE, so I'm kind of surprised by your mention of the coaches thinking he isn't athletic enough to play defense. I'm not disputing it, I just haven't heard that before. Do you care to offer the source?

I would be surprised if they put a physical specimen like that to block instead of letting him tear someone's head off on defense, that's why i said it was just a rumor. Hopefully more information on this will arise and they don't move the kid to O-line. The kid has a pretty bright future on defense
johnnyzip84
Well, JD's been implying that we'll see lots of rotating on both the OL and DL this year with the percieved increase in depth. I hope Marquinn gets his shots and makes the most of them.
