It's never too early for one of these threads.The latest example of the failure of the 3-3-5 defense is the Buffalo vs. UTEP game, which Buffalo won 42-17. Guess which team ran our style of defense?It's fine as a package to use occasionally, against a pass-oriented team. But against a running team, like Wisconsin, Syracuse, Can't, or Ohio, we're done for. We're equally screwed when facing a scrambling QB, as shown last year when we got torched by Indiana and UConn, not to mention CMU.The ONLY way is will work is if we can get consistent pressure on the QB, which was a huge problem. Hopefully Bain will allow for some improvement there.
