Zip Watcher
I didn't see any other slugs there, but if I missed someone, my apologies. I got there about when the Q&A was starting, so I haven't been able yet to hear his opening (or MT's) remarks. I'm really cooked from the red-eye flight I took to get to the PC (only partly kidding), so I'll post more in detail later. Some quick hits: 1. No Terry Pluto or Elton Alexander to be found. 2. Most of the team was there .. and in quite good spirits 3. He's got a presence at the mic .. definately engaging. 4. He understands that this is a change for a reason .. not a status quo thing (more on this later). 5. The room really liked him .. Tommy Evans was SRO when I got there .. For now, I'll just add my favorite comment of the Q&A: KD "When we win ... we'll outgrow the JAR, and that's one of my goals here .. to outgrow the JAR" More to come... GoZips
ZIP Watcher has the press conference pegged. No Tammy, no weepy Elmo to be found. Coah D appears ready to keep all or nearly all the current staff. Look for one GREAT addition ... Dru Joyce currently coaching Akron St.V-St.M (the other LeBron coach) is a great fit in the Zips scheme. Coach Joyce has developed into an outstanding coach now ready for the college ranks. I hope he joins the blue crew. Did anyone pick up on the fact that both Dambrot and Brookheart spoke of playing at a level ABOVE the MAC? There is smoke here. How long until the Zips apply for admission to the one conference that needs them just as the Zips need out of the MAC?
Guest Hoban Knight
No way Drew Joyce is going to be on the Akron staff. There has been too much family involvement in the football and basketball staffs over the recent years. He's not even been that good of a HS coach as he could not even win the state title with LeBron as a junior.
Guest Guest
It figures such an ignorant post about Dru Joyce would come from a Hoban Knight fan...He only won a national title last year, but you're down on him because he didn't win a state title the year before.
