Z.I.P.
This is an historic recruiting class already for the Zips. However, there are still some big-time 2-star players who are being recruited by Akron and other schools including BCS schools. If anyone has info on these, please send it down the line. Jose Cruz, TE Johnstown PA Adam Coffee DT Miami Northwestern HS Reggie St Pierre DT Miami Central HS Tom Schmeding, OL Lackawanna (PA) JC Ben Davies OL Fork Union Mil Acad, VA Brandon Jackson S Plantation FL Joe Blanks, DT Erie Cathedral Prep (Akron vs Nebraska) Taylor Porter DE Marlington HS Tim Mayerbock OL Chicago St Patrick HS (UA vs NIU) Korey Coles WR Oxon Hills, MD (UA vs Can't St)
Guest Pro Scout
Read GoZips.com - several of these players are UA bound.
Guest ***GUEST_Z.I.P.***
OK. Thanks, I never would have thought of Gozips.com!! Seriously though, my guess is almost all of these kids were players who in years past would have been considered among Akron's top recruits. This year they weren't good enough to make the cut at their position, and we got better players, despite them getting offers from other schools. The only one who was offered by Akron and took the other's offer was the Chicago lineman Mayerbock, who signed with the NIU Huskies. However, both Blanks and St. Pierre were offered by BCS schools and are STILL on the board. Blanks was offered by Nebraska -- though before their coaching change. It looks like he may have had an injury(?). Reggie St. Pierre, another Miami DL was offered by Iowa and Rutgers besides Akron. He is still unsigned also. Brandon Bunn was offered by about 5 different MAC schools, still unsigned. Korey Coles offered by Akron and Can't State, unsigned. They may be academic question marks.
